Most decent dive watches are meant to take a beating. People forget that the Rolex Submariner was a tool watch before it became a luxury accessory. Cool video and great to see someone enjoy their watch not keep it in a watch box.

A Sub hasn’t been a tool watch for decades.

@@bngr_bngr Probably since the 80s. I think with inflation it used to cost Tudor Black Bay prices which for the 80s under 4k that's reasonable.

@@josemedina1983 actually Rolex and the watch industry repositioned their products into luxury products in the 80’s after the Quartz Crisis. A Sub SS cost $230 in the 70’s, into the 80’s it cost $1350. In 1996 it was already at $3350. By 2008 it was at $6,000, out pacing inflation every year since the 80’s.

@@josemedina1983 absolutely worth it. I’ve had my Sub for 25 year. I would never sell it. Buy it’s nice that the Rolex has an amazing resell price. Most items we buy depreciate and don’t last as long.
How is the movement? Is it still running to spec or has it sped up/ slowed down?
Looks great! A nice touch up from Rolex at the 10 year service will make it brand new
Such a beautiful piece. Any more damage since making this video?
Whats the price u bought for? and the current market value now?
Well worn and used. Great video man. These watches are meant to be used.
It’s wearing beautifully I love the submariner, how did it cost back when you bought it
Good for you, worn with pride. If you don’t want scratches, baby it or buy a Damasko. My watches are all pretty immaculate, but I’m rotating 12 around a G shock work daily wearer. Are you considering any other watches, Serge?
That’s the beauty of brushed steel. Polished centre links and especially gold scratches much more visibly even from light wear. The good news is that these will all buff out when you get the watch serviced. Go take a look at the back of a spoon. Enjoy the patina.
Any updated on your channel planned?
Yeah dealers would polish it and say it's excellent condition...

Rolex watches are tool watch!! Great video thank you🙏
What is your occupation?
Got the 41mm, it`s meant to be used, 100 a tool watch, just make sure to service it and it`ll go for generations
New to watches, looking to purchase and I’m in the deep end of KZread. I’ve been led here, what year or reference is this watch? What is your wrist size by chance? Would this be to big on a 6 and half inch wrist? Would you wear this watch dressed up? Even in a suit? Thanks

@@simplyserge5000 is this sub the same sub currently being sold at ad’s? 41mm? Looking through your videos the Cartier santos and the explorer36 are also top of my list. If I could just get your general opinions on them that would be much appreciated. Hard these days not being able to walk in a store, wouldn’t even be able to try anyways I’m sure. At Rolex at least
Standard videos of the dimensions, weight, movement have become boring to me. This on the other hand is different and interesting to see, long term review and performance.
The watch now looks the way it should: like a tool.

Stay saying this shit. A g shock is a tool watch. You know damn well no one buys this to fuckin replace a transmission on a car or demolition. Stop this tool watch talk.

Haha same here , I came here today and this video popped up and I remember Serge's old Steinhart 39mm black ceramic videos at the beach etc a few years ago before he bought the sub. I guess the steiny was a good test run for scratching an itch
Are you selling? I’ll take it 😄
Dealers that say this are talking bull . A light polish costs peanuts and it would come up like new . Most dealers will give all preowned watches a light polish in any case as a lot of buyers do prefer the pristine look .
Does not miraculously look any less worn, than any other subs, or high quality homages. Its sheen is different to classic steel used in others, thats a fact, the rest is a lot of marketing yet not saying it is BS.. I would say where the rolex steel differs in real world use is its anticorrosive properties (against salinity, acidity) and its antimagnetic properties, since they keep your watch outside influence of magnetism - for example from a car door speaker magnet, wearing your watch on the left hand as a driver, or mobile phone, big headphones, tablets etc. Other than that there is no night and day difference between the 317 L steel used elsewhere, if not directly treated with special kind of hard anti scratch coating - scratches are common in both cases. Good thing is satin brush helping to hide the hairs /scratches much better than polished steel.
Wow you beat that thing up! First service free! Just a few hundred for a needed polish! You need a Gshock as a beater not a 10k Rolex
Get a lightbox man.

@@DrFernandoHidalgo I feel that way about my Timex beater watch. My Sub takes less than 5 minutes to polish up like new and only have to do it a few times a year. Rolex 904 steel does not scratch very easy so a polish lasts a long time. It's definitely worth the 15 minutes of effort.
