Daily Driving Squarebody Suburban as a Pregnant Mom

Got me a 1985 ‘burban in April and got lucky and only paid $1,400 for it. Been daily driving it since and never left me stranded! Have to commute 35 miles 5 days out of the week for work. Other than gas mileage I love it! My girlfriend loves it too. Took her a while to appreciate it but she loves it more and more everytime she gets to ride in it and now I got her pickup a wrench and she’s willing to learn how to restore it slowly with me! Cheers! You are a very cool mom for owning something like this. Wish my mom had one of these when I was younger 😂🙏

My parents had almost that exact same Suburban when I was growing up in Idaho. It was a 1987 Silverado 4wd with that exact paint scheme and interior color (with rear AC), 350. But it had the front bench seat. My dad did buy two sets of custom wheels for it, one for snow tires. My daily in HS was an 81 diesel rabbit, but got to drive the Suburban a lot. They eventually traded it for a 12 passenger Ford van with a 4wd conversion. Had 8 kids in our family.

@@dillansgarage I got in a wreck in it when I was 16 or 17. Wasn’t that much more for Maaco to paint the whole thing instead of just the damaged areas. And it needed paint, so just painted it all. Dad also had a square body Scottsdale work truck with a manual. Remember getting a ticket in it on the interstate on my way home from my sisters wedding in Oregon. I’ve always had a lead foot, that thing couldn’t have been that fast (I don’t remember) but I was probably pushing it.

I think for fuel economy I would look into taking the smog junk off or bypassing it because you are in an emisions state. High flow cats and a more open exhaust. I bet with some updates you could probably get 15-18 mpg
