Daily Driving KM3s in Winter

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey everyone put together this quick video of my opinion on the KM3s as a daily driver in snow, like I state in the video, obviously not what this tire was designed to excel at, but I am very happy with them!

    Doughnuts are always fun, I have a 2019 Power Wagon and I still do them, it’s like swinging a bus around but never gets old! Nice video, ty!

    Very nice to see honesty in these tire videos 👍 Like you said, other designs outperform M/T's in snow or ice and people should be aware of that and not just go with what the marketing says. M/T's by design are just the opposite what you'd want for snow tires, because they're designed to throw away all that stuff which tries to stick on them. For mud that's just what you'd want, but for snow it's the opposite, because rubber on snow creates very little friction. It's the snow on snow that makes friction and helps with traction, that's why dedicated winter tires (like Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10's) have a lot of those small sipes (or how you spell it) on them to bind all that snow into the tire and make them gain traction (not to mention they have studs too to help in ice).

    Appreciate your honest review, without being biased toward KM3 (I'm a big fan of KM3, but a bigger fan of honesty) or mud tires...I agree, if you drive defensively and reasonably, you will have little problem.

    Siped, these KM3s are the best all around tires I’ve ever run . Period. I run them currently on a hummer H3 championship edition and a Zr2 Bison.

    I'm thinking about switching from Mud Grapplers to these on my H3. I'm going to miss the look of the Nitto's though, that's the only thing holding me back from switching haha

    Im putting together a winter set up than can double as an off-road set up. I’m going too try these. I got a chrome set of 20’s right now with ko2’s and I’m going to fit these mud tires on some 16’s. I think it will do well and look great 👍

    Not the original BFG TA Mud Terrain.. That style tread was the king of all season and terrain. It loved snow and ice. Sand was the only spot you had to use a lil more skinny peddle tell some of the tread wears down. So freaking quiet on the highway the whole life of the tire. I put 60K miles on a 1977 F250 4X4 driven daily on a mix of road types. A crap load of chip seal miles..

    In a snowstorm I would probably slow down to 50ish but I would do that with any tire for safety. Normal freeway driving they are, in my opinion, the best of any mud tire. Minimal road noise and great handling.

    Why would an all terrain tire stop better than a mud terrain in snow?

  • @campbelloffroad3660

    @campbelloffroad3660

    The tread blocks on most all-terrains tires are closer together, and they are better at holding snow in the gaps between the treads and not letting it go. The reason you want this is because snow has much better grip on snow than rubber on snow, so having tires that can keep snow in the tread while driving will have much better traction and braking.

    In all fairness the KM2's have proven to be a far inferior tire compared to the KM3's. Either way, mud terrains will never outdo a true snow tire. Take it slow no matter what rubber you're on.
