Actually its the offset of the wheels, stock leaves the center of the tire right in line of the ball joints so they just wanna go straight, but with wide offset wheels it sticks them way out past the ball joints and allows it to have more leverage to turn under throttle causing the tie rod to buckle.

I can see why the 70s ford broke, probably still all original parts, but those newer trucks with their tires floppin around makes me wonder who designed these things!

Gilbert Dueck newer? Those are late 80s early 90s trucks! 😂🤣😂 And they were 1/2 ton trucks on stock parts pulling a sled. Some with cranked up torsion bars.

Part of the tie rod problem is when you order a MOOG center link with tie rods, they send you one for a half ton. It will bolt on but the rods are less than half the diameter. I had to buy proforged brand for my big block to get stuff that was as big as the stock HD big block equipment. It's supposedly made of better steel too.
