you got to play scales across all modes and notes with pattern variation!!!! that is really good practice even if you don't get to do all the work.
The smile of Julia warms me up instantly :)

Man that bass has incredible lines ..... wow. The top of the fretboard looks like F. Jazz & the bottom of the fretboard is wide like a Fender P. 🙂
You make me want to play my bass more!

One of the things I play for a warm up is Groove is in the Heart. Gets the old fingers ready to go and gets me in that funk state of mind too. :D
Playing broken thirds like you did at 5:42 is a part of my typical warm up as well. I usually start my warm up by playing major and minor arpeggios starting on C major (3rd fret of A string) and working up the fret board chromatically to the 12th fret. Then, run through a major and minor in broken thirds in all keys.
Came here for those ghost notes 3:58 yeeeeaaaaah there we are Thanks for the tips Julia

I love Julia.
Thank you Julia
After a long time, this is the video that helped me get back into bass playing
Always a pleasure. Thanks Julia
Fabulous! I enjoy all of your videos, but this was one of your absolute best.
Thank you very much, Julia, for this warm-up exercise with all the tips! You are really a great motivator. I've just started playing my bass and it's really very helpful!!
Thank you very much Julia, these exercises are very useful.
Not many people would think of playing D flat scale as a warm up, but it is important to play in the flat keys and not just play follow the dots. Thanks for a very inpiring video, as are all your videos.

I love Julia’s voice 😍
Thank You!! Practice the fundamentals. They never change. Really enjoy your playing!!
Love your videos and your laid back style! Been playing for about 20 years and musicians like you help me to continue to stay involved and learn new techniques. Keep up the great work!
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. More pros should do videos like this. Well done. Your lesson is appreciated. Thank you
Super! ThankYou!
Thank you, your videos are very positive and direct. Very effective.
I gave up bass many many years ago but I recently got back into playing. I feel like I’m starting all over again literally. What a way to start though. Back to the basics but Julia’s videos like this one and others are helping me tremendously.
Very instructive !! Thanks Julia 🙏
Thank you!
I’m obsessed with just hearing the tone of that bass during your warmups. Aside from that beautiful tone, this was very helpful, so thanks again Julia!
Great insights Julia. Much appreciated.
Fantastic exercises. Gonna start using all the time now!
Great stuff, always interesting to see how other people warm up. Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks, Julia! Great ideas.
Thank you for the video. I gave up music almost 30 years ago. I got a bass recently and your videos inspire me to keep playing.
I like your way. Thank you. I am a veteran guitar player and I am beginning to play the bass guitar for a week now. And I stumbled on your you tube lessons and its cool. Cheers !
This is great. Thanks
thanks for the tips, Julia, very helpful!
A nice reminder to warm up properly. Thanks!
Great warmup lesson - TQ
Thank you ❤️
Your warm up is like a life time of work for me! I got as far as flexing my wrists :) Loving your lessons Julia - seriously. Always grateful x
Good info… Thx Julia 🎶🎶
Very nice practice regimen Julia... thx for sharing!
This is great! :) Just got my first bass yesterday! Thank-You for including the stretching as well! :)Thank-You!
Great insight, thank you Julia! I am not a bass player but my warm up "gymnastics" without instrument are pretty much the same. I just add some strechings for thumbs, hands, arms, shoulders and neck before playing scales and after the scales before practising music. I can strongly recommend that to everybody who has muscle-tension issues....
Fantastic! Just what I was looking for. Thank you, Julia! My daughter's and my grandmother's name.
Nice. I’ll usually add modal practice as well and work on the intervals inside of the modes. I try to switch up the fingers used a bit on my left and right hand conscientiously as well, exercising that fine motor control. Thanks.
Great suggestions. I also stretch & rotate my neck & shoulders otherwise I can get a sore shoulder; also helps with relaxation. Plus, I have a basic jazz book. Good to do simple jazz exercises to warm up.
Grazie Julia, ❤, buona giornata!
I always love your videos, Julia 😊
I have been doing this warm up every day for years, but I've seen this video a hundred times just because I love listening to Julia. I just love her accent.
Thanks Julia for reminding us how important it is to incorporate bass warm-ups every time. -Jim
This is perfect, thank you so much!
Excellent content thank you so much :3
Thanks for the input, i too started physiotherapy after i hurt my nerves from using wrong posture and position of both hands. You are a cool instructor / teacher.
More groove lessons please!!!! Nice videos Julia, thanks!
Love it.
Excellent! Very helpful!
Awesome Lesson Julia thanks 🙏
Dear Julia Thank You so much for this valuable warmup-excercises! I have just picked up my bass after three months without tuching it at all, feeling helpless - until I found exactly the tools to get back on the track again. Best regards Johnny Voss Denmark
I’m doing the 2 octaves scales with different fingers, but these are very useful tips i think. Thank you so much
love it, i think i found another Bass mentor! just started! thanks for this!
very good lesson thank you
Very helpful, thanks. I already do some of these so I’m on the right track.

Very usefull, danke dir!
I love your personality Julia😍🌷👏
Perfect..just what I need to start working on scales. Giging very much around Boston And New York
Very helpful thank you.
That was great 👍
Super interesting, thanks so much! I'm still learning where the strings are, so this kind of thing will come, hopefully, pretty soon.
This is really great :-)
Thank you for the lesson Julia! If it helps anyone: I spend some time each day rolling my hands and forearms with golf balls. It is a tremendous help to the soft tissue.

Hey Grizelda, thank you very much for your advice :) // Cheers, Julia
Really interesting video👌good bass guitar sound❤
Awesome!!!!!
Returning to music and wanted to try something new so bought a bass. Every time I see one of your videos I take something away from it. You and your style are so centered that I’m able to take it all in without any anxiety or confusion. I’ve learned more about muting from watching you play than from videos actually dedicated to muting. Thank you!
Grazie mille, warm up like in any sports it's important
Very nice exercise ideas. Thank you.
wonderful...
Great advice.
This is such a great teaching video, may I use it to teach my beginners group at school. I think you will inspire my students especially the girls because of your infectious positive attitude, as well as beaming smile.
Good Tipps. 😊 👍 Thanks.
After stretching my hands and back, I like to play an ascending arpeggio exercise. start on C and play major arpeggio, then minor arpeggio and ascend up chromatically. I think i learned this from a Daric Bennett video. I also like to play major and minor scales in broken 3rds and 5ths. After the ascending arpeggios and broken 3rds and 5ths. I'm warmed up and ready to go! EDIT: i had commented before watching the entire video and see Julia does the broken 3rds as well. Nice!

Cool! I like to do 2 octave arpeggios, major chord then the relative minor. Then go up a 4th and do those 2 chords etc.. Love your channel!
Been doing similar things for years, great for the hands
Thank you for that. I often cramp up during the third set or the encores. I used to do warm ups but just got lazy I guess. Time do do my warm ups new, chow
