I was happy to find this video when I was waiting for my Katana to arrive, but today when I went out to work on my boat, I found that this video is actually not useful to me at all. I'm assuming you've got an older model, or maybe the 9.6; on my new 10.4 this pillar is plastic, and easily removed by a hand-turnable screw at the floor of the kayak (actually, a rail mounted to the floor). The top of the pillar simply has a hole in it which goes somewhat loosely over/around the top screw.
