The problem with films like this is that the premise is actually good. If it was based in an actual semblance of reality, we can understand how natural comedy would arise from natural parental struggles magnified by 2. But films like this always want to make every single character such a ridiculous construct that it bears no actual resemblance to any situation any of us are familiar with.

That's modern 'comedy' for you. Every character has to be some over the top, wacky cartoon character. They seem to have such a simplistic idea of what 'funny' is.

I mean I’m just waiting for a Marky Mark, John Cena, and Matt Damon comedy film where they play brothers. And the brothers try to start a business, fitness pyramid business, and want to go online with it. But then the brothers are met with competition with other teams to get a bigger promotion deal. And there’s so much more to say that I’m just throwing this idea out there while eating Captain Crunch.

Well when you are a divorced/single parent with offspring, the criteria for your next romantic partner changes. You can’t necessarily marry/date the next person you are starting to have feelings for just because you like them because your kid(s) now comes first, so whoever you meet is going to have to take of them and will need have to have a good paying job cuz they’re gonna need to help support the kid(s). You don’t want to get involved with someone and end up having to take care of that person too and a lot of divorced parents usually end up getting together with other divorced parents. I agree with Martin, the mom is only with Will Ferrell’s character cuz he can be depended on to bring home the bacon because her first husband never did and she clearly was more attracted to Mark Wahlberg’s character because if he had been a good dad and properly provided for his family she’d still be with him.

I would call this one of hollywood's no give a fuck movies. It's just clear that they had a decent premise but didn't know what to do with it. One of the first shots is of kid's on a playground and in one shot a little girl comes sliding down the slide and looks right into the camera and waves. From that moment I knew this movie wasn't gonna be any good.

@I Control My Fate Yea its wrong as dozens of Jewish, Black, etc actors came forward to say he wasn't, including many huge liberals. Gibson at the time was an alcoholic and with that disease comes demons of the past; one of which was an insanely abusive and racist father. People need off their high horses as if they have never said or done anything they regret, but live comfortably knowing it wasn't caught in tape. Gibson did his penance ...

i still love mel. he's a loon. it's not just racism,he's a loon towards every race, nationality and women and towards life in general just completely psycho. it's a lot easier to dismiss racism coming from somebody who's completely nuts in every way. racism is sadder when it comes from a person who you thought was an intelligent rational person.

This movie reinforces why as a beta male you don't marry a woman who has kids by someone else and then let him come in your house. These movies make being a SIMP like being a HERO!!
