I was kidnapped when i was 5. Long story short i ended up escaping and i can remember seeing my parents and my family and how relieved they were. It's not funny but my dad and 4 uncles were able to get to the guy before the cops and they crippled him, he was a giant man so don't feel bad that he never walked again, the courts didn't do their jobs because the guys family was longtime friends with the judges family and he only got 3 months, but he never walked again and never touched another kid. My dad & uncles are still my heroes.

It's a PhD field, so yes, it does take a long time and a good original research dissertation in order to get your degree. After that, it isn't too hard to get jobs, but that's because relatively few people actually get the degree qualifications in the first place, and there is more need for these scientists than there are qualified scientists to do the work. Like most hard sciences, it takes both natural talent and many years of hard work in order to get that doctorate, and a lot of people who start the process fall away before they finish, and go do something else.

Good thing the sheriff decided to approach the car. Otherwise, this could have turned out very differently. This story was both sickening and heartwarming. To see the love of that father for his daughter and her love for her family was a beautiful thing. 💜 To watch her hug the sheriff who saved her brought a tear to my eye.

The disgustingly sick, demonic predator is where the blame should NEVER shift away from! I’m certain the horrible memories feel like yesterday to this beautiful family. I’m so sorry you all had to endure this. I hate predators.😭😭 I’m just happy she survived & was able to move on with her life successfully. That’s really shitty to say. As if the ones who have trouble afterwards are bad and should get it together and “raise above it”. Shasta Groene was kidnapped and raped by Joseph Duncan. He also killed her 2 brothers, mother and stepfather. She was found alive in an IHOP after convincing him not to kill her. She was then sent to live with her biological father and stepmom who abused her. She has had a VERY hard life since and as an adult. She’s been arrested, been addicted to drugs and alcohol, had her children taken… and guess what? She is STILL just as admirable as this girl. She is STILL just as brave and a survivor. It’s disgusting for you to say “I like the ones who raise above being kidnapped and raped the best!” Well, fck you. You can’t imagine what something like this can do to someone. Shame on you. There’s much better ways to word your comment but people like you just love putting your damn foot in your mouth, be better.

I went through something similar when I was 24, but I knew my captor. I only escaped because he had taken a bottle of antidepressants by the end of it and became to unsteady to st@b me, missing me with every swing until he dropped and lost consciousness. He received 50 years in prison. I know how much it’s affected me, happening to me as an adult. But I cannot handle hearing children going through this. I’m glad I stuck with it to listen to your story though because you have inspired me so much. I wish you all the best in life. Much love to you Leah.

I remember this case because of the second victim Lisa. She was taken from the town I am from. Also, her step father worked with my mother. Her kidnapper left her with a bus ticket to get home. She had to switch buses in New Orleans so she asked someone about what bus. I think she was missing 2 weeks at that point. The sorrow for her did not stop there. About 18 months later her step father was arrested for molestesting Lisa. I never knew what happened with the case against him.
