Dad surprises daughters' preschool with story time rap!
My daughters' preschool invites family members to read stories to the children. On this particular day, inspired by musical artists on LA-based "The Cruz Show" radio program, I came in with a musical surprise. Following a reading of Anna Dewdney's "Llama Llama Gram and Grandpa", I kicked on a beat and delivered the same book once again... but this time, in hip-hop fashion. At the end, I also fell into freestyle, doing a brief but heartfelt teacher tribute!
Everything about this moment is beautiful:
• Giving our fullest attention and love to children.
• The high value of reading to children, and reading in group settings.
• And of course, the power and connective capability of music, especially in shared spaces.
A special thank you to the talented and passionate hosts of The Cruz Show: J Cruz, DJ Lechero, Jeff “The Sports Dude” Garcia, Jackie Ramirez and DJ Fuze. I've enjoyed your program for years, both while on @power106 and on @REAL923LA. Your idea for fusing musical artistry with Llama Llama readings inspired this moment, and now the kids got the benefit. Thank you.

Thank you, Sarah! It helps that it was SO FUNNNNNN. To answer your question, while you were in your childhood, so was I.
Dear Teacher Robert, I'm from Portugal and I have been studying with you and your class for the past 2 months and even though the university admission exams and the syllabi itself here are vastly different from the ones taught there, you have helped me immensely. I went from fretting over the thought of even having to glance at an equation to actually spending nights sifting through math textbooks and completing every exercise I lay my eyes on. Now look at me, I'm starting Calculus 1. You are the archetype of what teaching is all about and every teacher on this earth should aspire to, at least, be 1% of what you are. My best regards, YAY MATH
