An excellent little ride with Eve on her SV650 and me on the mighty VFR 800

Hi - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. My yellow rocket ship is a new Honda Monkey bike. It brings me back 50 years to my first taste of motorcycling and is a joy to explore country roads on it like what you have - as Ernie Wise would say!

Cool, I always fancied a Monkey bike. Is it one of the original Honda bikes? They are getting hard to find now.

@@tinkertime7165 Big Rodders again. It's brand new and is a very competent machine. I'm 6ft 4inches and wanted something comfortable that would fit in my van for attending road racing here and exploring round my place in Donegal. The quality of manufacture is glorious and it can easily cruise at 50mph - I opened it out to 70 down a slight incline once. I probably look ridiculous on it but I can do 50 miles on it without discomfort. It brings you back to the true essence of motorcycling.

@@rodneysweetnam8653 that is cool. We want to go to the TT next year if possible, but I would love to see Irish road racing sometime.

@@tinkertime7165 Rodders again. Most folk consider the TT to be an exciting race but technically it is a time trial. There is nothing to compare to mass start racing on public roads and the UGP is the supreme example of this art, particularly beloved by the racers themselves. Unfortunately, it's probable that the UGP won't run again but the NW200 will. I bring a caravan up to each for a week each year.

Long time, no see. Looks like very nice country for a ride. A mate has a matching yellow VFR800 and they definitely have some poke as evident by that little squirt near the end. Eve is your eldest daughter? Based on earlier videos I would have thought she was too young to be on a 650. There's probably different rules here in Aus. At 1 stage learner and probationary riders were only allowed 2500cc max.

Hi Alan, Yes Eve is my eldest at 19. She has always been pretty forward at getting stuff done. Passed her driving test a couple of months after her 17th (that is the youngest you can drive in the UK and waited until she was 19 before taking to two wheels. At that age you can take two tests and a theory test and ride a 'restricted' bike no more than 48 bhp. That is what her 650 is (with a nifty little restrictor than you can turn off at the flick of a lever). I made the restrictor and may do a video of it. Believe it or not her 650 does 0-60 mph in 3.8secs. That is 0.1 sec faster than mine! After about 70mph mine takes off :-).
