The problem with dachshunds is that they’re cute and comical in appearance, so nobody quite realizes they were originally bred to hunt badgers.

It's not the focus at all, but can I just say that the massive outdoor cage they have for their parrot looks gorgeous? It's big, its got lots of toys, and while I'd be worried about pathogens spread by other birds, it offers a lot of visual stimulation for the bird as well. Parrots are difficult and noisy to keep, so the fact that they have a gorgeous bird who *isn't* the noisemaker is quite excellent

I really love the calmer and relaxed vibe of this new season, I loved the older seasons, but watching this makes my heart happy. And it makes it even better that you can genuinly see and tell Victoria loves what she does and truelly wants both the owners and dogs to succeed.

Don't know if you noticed, but every time a British show is shown, the owners of the dogs are always willing to put in the hard work with no complaining. Whereas the American shows, the owners have to complain and say things like "Victoria doesn't know my dog like I do " or "I won't do what she says because she doesn't know what she's talking about " and even expecting Victoria to fix the problems for them. Sorry, but that's just an observation, and not intended to insult anyone.

I have a Dachshund at home, he's fine with the people he knows, but he gets so territorial when new visitors enter the house, he straightaway bites their clothes without warning. I've been training with him for over months, these dogs are so stubborn, he mostly just ignores my commands, certainly when there's distraction around. Same thing when we are walking together, he listens fine when we are alone, but as soon as another dog is near, he ignores me completely and refuses to make eye contact. I just don't know how to get him to stop being so territorial and aggressive towards visitors. Yes I've already tried introducing strangers on neutral ground and bringing them in, doesn't work. Yes I've tried many dog trainers that tried it, didn't work.

Why don't you try what was just shown in the video? Have your visitors throw some chicken pieces away from them to redirect his biting tendencies and when on walks do the "lets go" and turn away from other dogs. If you haven't already, watch more of the older videos to get more ideas on how to work with your dog, (yes, there are more training tools to use for your boy (sorry, I can't remember all of them right now) ) and you'll be on your way to having a well behaved dog. Good luck.

There's 3 techniques in this video: 1. Touch - for focus, 2. Closing the kitchen door and texting upon arrival, removed the barking triggers and 3. Is partially neutral ground, but I've seen Victoria use this in the front parlor... to make visitors a pleasant experience... In this case with food, but if your dog isn't food motivated use the toy. ... It's important to do these in order and to have them solid before moving to the next. If your dog doesn't listen in a excitable moment, you haven't practiced Touch enough. Five minutes, and at least 2 times a day... every day. Dachshunds are thick headed, but once they get it, it's gold... so be resilient. P.s. if you start out with food, you need to be able to have your dog Touch without food, because I swear, a life or death situation will come up when you won't have food and he will know you don't and won't listen. Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵😷. Let me know how it goes.

Train him to focus on you no matter what. Is he food motivated? Work with having really yummy treats nearby and still keeping his focus. More curious/reactive? Do the same but with people nearby trying to get his attention. Start slow and work your way up. Praise and reward lots and lots in the process. Getting your dog hardwired to focus on you whenever you tell him to is the key to dealing with any situation.

I love her training ideas. I have dachshunds who are just like this but worse. I did notice that he carried the dog out to the garden to greet Victoria which is something i do when greeting people to avoid the chaos of barking as they seem more relaxed when being held. Also, the dog didn't hear her come into the home, which explains no barking - the mailman is not going to text therefore the dog will hear them and no doubt the barking will be on fire

Yeah, I have two Dachounds next door to me... They Never stop barking..ever! I love Dachounds but they are ear piercing and close to my house. Their barking goes through my walls. I have had a confrontation with the owners about their dogs that basically left us estranged. Now, I just put the total blame on them! It's a nightmare!!! All their dogs need, is attention and love...They get put in the yard, sometimes tied up, and told to shut up, which doesn't work. It could be so different.Meanwhile loud barking, barking, barking..

This reminds me of my best friends old pet dachshund, Joey. They went on a trip one day and he fell off of her bunk bed and died when they were gone. I can’t imagine how broken she must’ve felt when she came home to see her bestfriend dead lying on the floor😔😢😢 fly high Joey🙏🏼
