D.I.Y. Guitar Support - Part II

Музыка

In this follow-up, I explain what I finally did for a more professional D.I.Y. guitar support, and did not spend over 15 dollars for it.
I have been using it for a few months and never had a back or neck problem again, and find myself playing better because of the more comfortable position. I also discuss one drawback from it... Check it out!
I hope you will find this useful.

Great idea, although the strap around your neck could in time be stressful to your neck. Photographers and birdwatchers, who often carry heavy cameras or binoculars, have come up with designs that use a harness (strap over each shoulder) to take the pressure off your neck. You could use the same strap button for attaching either. Of course, when seated, your legs take the majority of the weight of the guitar, so the weight on your neck probably isn't an issue. But a harness could be more comfortable for playing while standing up. Not many classical players stand to play, although you might check out Zoe Barnett's more recent videos.

Hi Gary, yes, I have seen Zoe and other players with straps and in my opinion, it should be a standard. My setup is not for standing up, and this guitar in particular is super light (Torres copy), so it hasn’t been an issue at all and I have used the strap for a long time now. But for heavier guitars, it might be a problem. I like your idea of the harness!

Good to know! Thanks for letting me know… it used to be the case with most of their models that the strap button couldn’t be screwed into the heel. Cheers

I won't drill a hole and put a screw on my PB though.

It’s your instrument, so it’s up to you of course!
