    Hello Doctor 7, this video and your technique is amazing ❤️ the trick is how you pass the strings through the vibrola, only second, third and sixth, right? thanks

    Hi, now, my preferred method is to only engage the 2nd and 3rd (more stable). Please check my more recent video titled Mastering the Gibson Vibrola for a way more in-depth explanation and exploration about the possibilities. Thanks for the kind words!

    How do you hook up midi to the computer?thanks

  • @doctor7music91

    In the case of the Line6 unit, it is a USB cable. Other devices need a midi cable connected to an audio interface that can receive a midi signal or cable.

    Little know fact: the original design brief of the maestro was to bend up to that major third just like a pedal steel. It wasn't intended as a vibrola bar at all.

    I haven’t tried that. This particular guitar is tricky because of its tornavoz. It does not enable me to put my hands inside the guitar, so I can only use this type of pickup or use a microphone.

    Great idea, although the strap around your neck could in time be stressful to your neck. Photographers and birdwatchers, who often carry heavy cameras or binoculars, have come up with designs that use a harness (strap over each shoulder) to take the pressure off your neck. You could use the same strap button for attaching either. Of course, when seated, your legs take the majority of the weight of the guitar, so the weight on your neck probably isn't an issue. But a harness could be more comfortable for playing while standing up. Not many classical players stand to play, although you might check out Zoe Barnett's more recent videos.

  • @doctor7music91
    @doctor7music9125 күн бұрын

    Hi Gary, yes, I have seen Zoe and other players with straps and in my opinion, it should be a standard. My setup is not for standing up, and this guitar in particular is super light (Torres copy), so it hasn’t been an issue at all and I have used the strap for a long time now. But for heavier guitars, it might be a problem. I like your idea of the harness!

    Dear Francisco, You have really managed to create a beautiful interpretation of this masterpiece by Barrios. 👏👏I really liked the slightly slower tempo than other guitarists choose. That gives the music more breadth, almost something symphonic! I also liked the way you built and structured the piece. So, very good for a start!👍👍 Unfortunately, tremolo pieces like this are out of reach for me. Best wishes Stefan

    Thank you Stefan! I made a mistake towards the end but whatever… I am learning how to take the most out of this new guitar. It’s very different from my Thames: the trebles are not as full sounding and the dynamic range is a bit less compared to the Thames, but the sustain and playability are just incredible!

  • @doctor7music91
    @doctor7music912 ай бұрын

    Ahhh, well, I was thinking about playing it with my Les Paul (no trem) and I could get away with everything by bending strings, except the big slide in the main hook, from e to b. You can do it with a bending as I have shown and a glissando back to b but the sound is not quite the same.

    Yeah well, unfortunately mine squeaks too. So much, that I literally can play on my guitar like an out of tune fiddle. At least chords are easier than on real violin. I've found that oils help a little. I mean if you lotion your fingertips a bit. Or rub your fingers on your nose it helps with squeaks, but you loose grip also. Well I guess I'll go back to nylegut. Or just sanded nylon for grip. But hey, kudos to aquila for trying something unconventional again. The texture is amazing. Really funny and interesting colored bases. Interesting sound. Unfortunately it doesn't work as intended. It's possible to play under super special conditions. Fortunately strings doesn't cost as much as a new guitar and I can experiment with sound. I'll try again in a year. Maybe they will change the formula as promised.

    Well, should have watched the video before buying. Now im not sure i want to restring my guitar from perfectly playable nylegut. Rob Mackillop did review 5years ago and told they were great... Guess I'll have to see for myself. Btw I have so sweaty hands that normal polished nylon squeaks under me. But not nylegut

  • @doctor7music91
    @doctor7music913 ай бұрын

    Give them a try, but I encourage you to keep a fabric under the strings when you put the guitar inside the case, to prevent damage to the top in case of string breakage. The strings have a powerful and bright sound, so you might like them.
