    @@PsyrenXY That's some bullshit. The core system is GREAT. But it's suffered from EXTREMELY lazy writing, and I attribute that to the younger spoiled kids going into the industry. Spelljammer is the most egregious example, but even the core rulebooks are POORLY laid out. The skill system ALONE is a monument to laziness. There are virtually no lists of skill DCs, and the gist is basically, "Here DM. YOU do the game design". My games run MUCH more smoothly after I spent two weeks cobbling together what little there was on 5E skills with the DC lists from 4E and 3.5.

    My favorite class has always been Druid & I kind of like what Pathfinder did with them. Especially Untamed. My most enjoyable character was an Eldritch Rogue with druid archtype Untamed that took the form control feat & snuck mostly used pest form to sneak even better. Although the claws of Untamed form are agile & and finesse, also took plant form & aerial form later on. I went this way instead of the other way around because wildshapings kinda meh untill higher levels with heavy feat investment.

    To be fair, pf2 is radically different from pf1, and is clearly heavily inspired by D&D 4E which is the edition that drove people away from D&D and to Pathfinder in the first place. So people who switched from pf1 to pf2 are doing so either because of brand loyalty, or they are simply ready to move away from a 3e-style game. Either way, if you apply the same motivation to treantmonk when 5e came out, it all checks out.

    Our group had about 5 sessions of PF2e. My conclusion is that any weapon other than the biggest 2 handed is totally useless. I found no reason to use one handed weapons and natural attacks are useless. Maybe if you want to get a shield, you could consider a one hand weapon. But shielding costs an action and I am certain that leaving the enemy alive for longer is worse. Also all the feats feel super weak. I didn't find any gems. No synergies. Very sad.

  • @davidh3332

    @davidh3332

    Жыл бұрын

    You would be wrong. When you build into the abilities of the weapons themselves there are tons of viable options. The ability to trip, put someone prone, etc. cannot be understated. Also, shields allow you to protect yourself and allies while also having tons of cool features.

  • @Jaedeok82

    @Jaedeok82

    Жыл бұрын

    Took a bit to realize this wasnt a commentary on 5e. Weapons have much MUCH more incentive to be more varied in PF2e. Shield fighting feats and options for spikes etc are great. Dual wield is viable, one handing has feats that enhance it, weapon properties add dimension and depth, critical effects can further this as well. Vs 5e where if you arent using a 2 handed weapon with reach you are just objectively worse than anyone who is because of polearm master and great weapon fighting, (+sentinel) and an absolute vacuum of options for other weapon types. Melee combat is in the worst feeling state its been in 20 years.

    PF2E is far better than 5e. 5e is good to get people INTO the idea of TTRPGs PF2E is where you go when you graduate from 5e. Ive played 5e sooooooooooooo much over the past 5-7 years that ive already seen if not played everything. Even the new stuff dont interest me. PF2E is a breath of fresh air. Wanna be the Hulk? Wanna be a goblin that rides an animal and throw bombs? Wanna be a super saiyan? What about venom? Doc Oc? Want to grow to huge sized? What about tiny sized? What about being a halfling that wrestles large sized creatures and is effective at it? Theres a combination that can make all of these possible. And much more, i only scratched the surface.
