Rumor has it that a restaurant owner in New York once hired a gypsy violinist to play romantic songs for the dinner guests. The skilled violinist put his violin to his cheek and made it cry, weep, and moan, playing passionate love songs from the old country, Hungary. .. One couple got so carried away by the music that the man slammed his dinner date across the table and started making out. .. Alerted to the situation, the startled restaurant owner appeared, yelling: "Damn it, Lorenzo! Not THAT romantic!"

IGNORANCE AT ITS FINEST. Let me explain: thanks to the European Union, nowadays gypsies are called Romani. Gypsy music does not exist, they have taken the repertoire of Hungarian people, Romanian, Ukrainian, etc, but they did not compose any of these songs falsely claimed "gypsy" just because the player is a gypsy. For the sake of humanity, please learn the difference, otherwise, it will no longer exist for you to enjoy it. Saying that, I have no problem with the interpret, I just wanted to bring a ray of light to your heart. It's not fair to the Hungarian people to steal their folklore like this.

Yes this Hungarian folklore music .. but bcuz gypsies are pure talent in music they put it on a higher level .. so it's not gypsies who came up with this song .. but we do have our roma music as well but doesn't sound like this .

My grandma used to take us to a Hungarian festival every year held at her church. It’s been YEARS since I have heard this, took me right back to that dance floor. There was also bags of grapes hanging off the ceiling people would pull down while dancing, was a great time. Everyone would wear Hungarian clothing, I had a “Kiss me I’m Hungarian button on” that would always be popular with the older lady’s never the cute young ones lmao. My grandma now 93 years old traveled from Hungry to Canada on a White Star ship when she was a little girl then got her US citizenship and moved to USA. I never learned Hungarian and don’t know much about the traditions but have family in Hungry still that I have met a few times.

Ivan Rebroff described himself as international, the "connection between East and West". He became a citizen of Greece and lived on the Greek island of Skopelos in the Sporades. You could say he was Greek too according to this. He used to call himself as an International singer who was born in Germany BUT his roots were Russian. And you are where from ancestors were......................
