As a Romanian I am pleased to see this amazing interpretation with Hungarian musicians. They took it and added their own style which I like. First time I hear a Romanian Folk song with a guitar player. Great talent 👍

Wonderful My ancestors were from Hungary and a great uncle played violin in the Detroit Symphony he learned by ear but had to learn to read music to play in the symphony which was very hard. He loved to play gypsy music on the violin by ear.

I met Serge Camps in Paris in 1990 and we became friends. His father was Spanish and his mother was Russian. He grew up in the Russian environment in the Emigré community in Paris. He is a lovely and humble, unassuming man.

Oliver Steiner coments Enescu, a musical genius was a great influence on Yehudi Menuhin. Menuhin writes about him with great admiration, and one can hear the Enescu influence in Menuhin's playing. This performance by Enescu is a favorite for me, as it exemplifies and inspires pouring one's whole heart into the violin. RĂSPUNDE 84

Hello, so what he wanted to say is that these are traditional romanian tunes, and that these are mixed in with with the Ciocarlia, which is a song composed by George Enescu, actually the song actually means skylark which is a bird and here you can see the interpretation which actually resembles the sounds the bird makes, this is why this musical piece is famous and hard to play, you have to make the sounds of the bird come through that imstrument: watch?v=W5FOuI-jQpc

This are a number Romanian very famous traditional horas and the Ciocarlia being performed here. It should be mentioned as such in the title and presentation of the video (i.e. Romanian traditional tunes). It's a good rendition of these virtuoso pieces.

Grandma used to boast about having Dziga (spelling?) the gypsy play at her wedding, and maybe an anniversary that I may have attended. The years go by and my memory isn't what it was!

It was her 50th anniversary - in pics i barely came up to her waist. She taught me how to polka then, and later Czardas. I was so enthusiastic that she had to sit for a while to catch her breath.

I've been asking the same question since I "discovered" him. But I couldn't find anything about him on the internet either. I guess he went back to his folk, got married, had children and grandchildren. By now he must be in his early 50s... I imagine him playing to his folk and telling them about his adventure in Australia with Rebroff . . .
