Cystic Fibrosis | Molecular Mechanism & Genetics
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder that affects mostly the lungs, but also the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and intestine.
CF is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner.It is caused by the presence of mutations in both copies of the gene for the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein.

great video just want to say that you left out that sodium ions follow the chloride and form sodium chloride (salt) within the mucus lowering the water potential drawing water in and thinning it but again great video

fantastic explanation! Thank you!
Normally, is water draw from inside the cell (intracellularly/ICF) or from the extracellular fluid? Because if water is being drawn from the ICF wouldn't that cause the intestinal cell to shrink?
@MariosPOS

i would assume it depends on the concentration of different ions etc on the interior and exterior of the membrane at the given time.. since that's the point of osmosis
thank you!!! Nice and concise.

Sir how water moves out of the cell by osmosis. Lipid layer is hydrophobic
I was searching for your explanation over this concept sir.. Got it!! And we can also think of the anamoly in case of pancreatic endocrine secretion getting thickened due to the effect right sir..
@hussainbiology
5 жыл бұрын
First of all thanks for appreciation.... The pancreatic secretions become thick when CFTR gene has any kind of mutation. Most of the exocrine functions are halted but there are disruptions in endocrine functions too in pancreas.
Cool
