Cystic fibrosis is more common in north Europe cause vibrio cholerae used to be common there and people with cystic fibrosis are immune from cholera infection and related death. Natural selection!

The mode of inheritance of Cystic fibrosis is Autosomal recessive. Again, not 25% of the offsprings, rather per pregnancy, there is a 25% change of offspring being a carrier 25% change of the offspring being affected by CF and 50% chance that the offspring will be normal. That's if both parents are carriers.

Thank you so much it is very helpful. I am not sure why my textbook says leading cause of mortality is Respiratory Failure. In your video you stated it is Pneumonia .

At 5:35 . The language used is "One out of 4 kids will have cystic Fibrosis". Shouldn't it be- each kid when born, has a 25% chance of having CF .?? After all these are only possibilities as you said.

How is the quality of life though for CF?

Why cystic fibrosis is in a high rate among north caucasians? Becaof lots of close relative marriages. I know lots of people whose moms and dads are close relatives like cousins. By the way I am caucasian. My parents are relatives and I do scold them sometimes)))))

Cystic fibrosis is living flip to kids it should be focused on more than it is right now alongside diabetes, the more with cf the more diabetes because a higher risk for the c.f. Kid is put on the line with diabetes these people don't realize c.f. Is way more complicAted then doctors like to see we need better doctors and nurses pt and treatments, how do I know this you ask?? I have it.
