Cyrusher Ranger Fat tyre Ebike

Cyrusher kindly sent this bike to show on the channel.
I have really had a blast riding this bike, it will take you to places that a lot of other bikes would not be able to reach and put a smile on your face.
Depending on how you ride them an ebike can give you plenty of exercise, or if your level of fitness is not so great you can tailor your riding style to suit.
Build quality and durability of this bike is very high.

Lovely bike that mate...love the suspension and wouldn't mind trying out hydraulic brakes. These types of bike have made such a difference to my life, allowing me to cycle again, with less pain than walking, or standing and waiting for a bus. For years, I've been searching for wild garlic, but been unable to travel to look for it. Went out on the ebike last Sunday and finally came across the motherload...would never have found without the assistance of the ebike and yes...my jacket spuds with wild garlic butter went down a treat 😉

Couldn't agree more Bill. I have been without a car now since before Christmas, have been relying mostly on bicycles and the odd M/C trip and all I see is too many people in too much of a hurry in dreadful automobiles causing mayhem and killing untold numbers of wild animals. Loving the pedaal power bikes and the E bikes very much and loving life at a slightly slower pace too

Great review chap .... and looks like a really good bike ... I have had serious health conditions like you mentioned ... but before my illness I was an avid cyclist/mountainbiker & I missed it so much .... then I was treated to a conversion kit which is also a Bafang motor and I built up one of my steeds and it got me back out there .... I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to turn their health issues around both physically and mentally ... very recently my health has improved that much that I am in the process of getting a youtube channel up based around long distance e-bike touring towing a trailer as I'm switching out all my old superlight kit for a heavy canvas hooped Aussie swag which will hopefully get me through some of my last hurdles in regaining my life .... honestly people like your good self on KZread got me through some very dark days and have inspired me to get over myself so I hope I can do a good job of inspiring others too ... thanks for what you do chap ... it's very much appreciated ... :o)~

I have to admit that I've not really been keen on the recent ebike popularity surge. As a long time, traditional human pedal power rider I've always argued that I don't need a bike that I have to charge. As long as I'm fueled up, my bike will keep going. However, I'm slowly beginning to come around to them, & your review here has pushed me quite a bit further along that road, Sandy. It was a fair, honest, good quality review you gave it. For shorter trips, & for those with health issues I can see how these ebikes definitely have a place & are here to stay. Thanks for taking the time to make this. A very helpful & enjoyable vid👍

As you say the thing about ebikes is that you can adjust them to get any sort of level of exercise you want. I ride an ebike and I monitor my pulse and adjust the assist to keep it in my target range. It's all about the pulse rate.

An excellent review sir, and a super video to match. You've given the bike a really thorough test, covering much of what people might want the bike for. The range of the bike seems really good, and I'd be interested in how far you could take it if you were being economical with the battery assist. I don't ride so much now on my conventional bike, and have a Generation 1 Swytch system to get me home if my medical condition (a form of chronic fatigue) kicks in, but the battery is not really that powerful so I limit the range and terrain accordingly. So the development of the Ebike has rekindled my interest and range would be a factor of importance for me, together with the seat post hight, a point you mentioned and I'm grateful for. So thanks for a brilliant review and video. I'm your latest subscriber. Cheers. 👋

  • @WiltshireMan

Hi Geoff, Glad you enjoyed the video. This bike really is quite capable and does have decent range if you keep it in assist mode 1, in the higher modes it will eat through the battery much quicker. Assist in mode 1 should be good for 40 or maybe even 50 miles and the level of assistance even in that setting is quite sufficient for most riding.

Seems to be a quite decent E-bike. E-bikes appear to be quite fun to ride. I was really hoping to get an E-bike to review and have been contacted by probably at least a half dozen E-bike companies to review E-bikes. Unfortunately when I tell the sellers that I am in Alaska, that is where the talks end. Seems there is a problem shipping the Lithium Ion batteries to Alaska through some commercial shippers. We do have E-bikes for purchase in state but the big name box stores where I have seen the E-bikes most likely use their own shipping systems to get the bikes up here.

Thats a shame Lonnie, I would say the Ebike for me is even more fun than the Himalayan simply because I can go places with it that aren't allowed with motorcycles. We are only allowed 250 watts which means a top speed of 15.5MPH but this particular bike is capable of 750 wats and almost 30mph. Even in the UK version it still has all the high torque power and is a lot of fun and makes every hill almost flat:)

Thanks for the video Sandy. I am rather a lighthearted chap and I do not wish to be critical, but I am of a similar age to you and I remember when 'The Bicycle' supposedly reached 'design maturity' in the late 1960's, through the 1970's when you could swap components from one bicycle to another with a reasonable chance of them being compatible. Then along come component manufacturers who had a production run of mere months and no spares backup. The bicycle world is but a microcosm of the product and service culture that now pervades. I am guessing that, for example, if any of the cyclionics (like avionics; displays, electronic control and switch gear in ??aviaries?? ) should fail after five years, there will be no possibility of being able to obtain matching components to keep the whole bicycle on the track/road/trail. If nobody steps in, this will all come to a logical conclusion one day, when all of the mined-out holes are full of our junk and the air is nearly drinkable and the water is breathable. We started out as Hunter-Gatherers who's intellect was suited to worshipping the spring or the stream or the forest or the sky..........then eventually everything; but now we look for affirmation in 'ever growing numbers' on a spreadsheet/graph. I am sure when things reach their ultimate conclusion, somebody of great authority will stand on an elevated platform above the parched, choking masses and utter an authoritative speech.........."Ah" ! (The bike does look like a lot of fun though)! ; - )

Hi Peter Yes I can understand where your coming from very well, I'm not sure how long parts will be available for these bikes but would hope for a good few years, but the more complex something is the more vulnerable to certain things it can become. Now there's not a single square meter of the planet that hasn't been mapped and assigned a what three words name and our technology has shrunk the world and taken away a lot of mystisicism which is a shame. We as a species have lost some of the connection to the natural world thanks to tech.

I don't understand the attitude of some cyclists towards ebikes. When I could only pedal sufficiently to get me a couple of miles I bought an ebike and it's allowed me to travel out into the countryside again. All I can say to the haters is that when the day comes that you struggle to cycle you'll see ebikes in a totally different way.

I am 165 cm (5'5") and this bike would be too tall for me, but I really like it. Do you think that by sawing off the saddle tube and replacing the handlebar stem with a shorter one, I could use it comfortably? With the saddle at a minimum, how many centimeters are there between the seat of the tube in the bike frame and the point where the saddle would rest if the tube was shorter? I need it to figure out how many centimeters I can make up by sawing the tube. Thank you very much.

Just needs a dropper post Sandy. Cant beat ebikes for putting the fun back in to cycling and full suss equal even more fun. Does it have a walk mode for when you encounter those sections even an ebike can’t get up or through. The UK speed restriction is set too low in my opinion, people in offices I guess.

Motors fitted to the crank will last much longer than the one's fitted to the wheels. So if you plan on keeping the bike for a long time or do lots of miles, you really should only consider buying one with the motor at the crank.

  • @SimonBrowneNZ

    @SimonBrowneNZ

    Жыл бұрын

While crank mid-drive motors may last longer on some bikes with hub motors, a lot depends on how they are ridden and how the bike and motor are set up. I have a hub motor - on the front wheel - that has regenerative braking. Every time I go down a hill and use the motor to brake, it slows the bike down and puts power back into the battery. I also use a torque sensor to control the amount of power going into the motor when cruising or going up a hill. On top of all that I converted a fairly light bike with belt drive and 8 speed internal gears. Overall I use very little power and recover 25% on average of the power I use by using the motor as a front wheel brake. Regen braking is only possible on direct drive or fixed clutch hub motors - not mid-drive. So instead of extra wear and tear on the drive chain from the extra power of the motor going through the drive chain, and the extra wear on the brake pads and rotors from the extra speed and weight of the bike, I have brakes that last practically for ever and a drive chain / belt that has less wear due to less power required from the cyclist. And in my case the belt and internal gear are totally silent. And yet mid-drive e-bikes are very popular - with bike shops.

What I find strange, if not a giggle, it seems a lot of different KZreadrs are getting free ebikes they may well use because of that fact, but would not be first on the shopping list to buy, if at all. However not forgetting a lot more things could go wrong when miles from anywhere even more so off roading, and apart from that replacement batteries are a ridiculous amount of money.
