This certainly is a hard song to sing. It’s all over the map. The fact that Cyndi still has the courage to decide to choose to select to perform this difficult song amongst some of the other easier songs in her repertoire shows that she’s still not afraid of a challenge but also that of the skill, versatility of her voice, the stamina she has as a vocalist, but also how well she has kept her voice in excellent health after all these years singing for a living for all of us. She chooses this hard song not only to please us, but I like to this to impress us that she’s still got these amazing chops and this song certainly proves it by showing off her vocal skills. The obligato in the middle sounds just like on the record. Perfect. Great job, Cyndi, keep singing, your concert was the first one I ever went to in 1987 and I have loved you live ever since!

Crazy isn't it, I was looking at a video clip of Doc Neeson and considering everything I was quite surprised how good he's still looking.. 🤦‍♂🙄😉

Cindy is a wonderfully talented person! This cover of the Prince song was included in her 80's album 'She's So Unusual' and Ive always loved the fact that she chose not to change the original words, keeping them as "I know that you're going with another guy". When sung by a woman decrying the loss of her lover, these words introduce a subtle gender/sexual ambiguity that make the song ever better. Back in the 1980's, this creative choice on Cyndy's part was indeed brilliantly courageous.

It's pretty clear she takes care of herself and her voice! 😍 She sounds incredible and still puts so much heart into her performances. I realize this video is from 6 or 7 years ago, but I've seen her recent performances, too, and she's still kickin' it in the ass! ❤👑 What a class act!

She's So Unusual is my choice for greatest album of all time. Not most people's choice, but I don't think true music-philes would argue too much. The more i hear her various performances, the more I am convinced that she is also one of the most under-rated of all time.

I love how she is singing real far back behind the beat. Coupled with her emoting it really brings a distressed element to the song. Wonderful.

WOW! She still has a set of pipes! Fantastic vocals. I've been a HUGE fan from day one. Cyndi Lauper greatly improves the quality of my life every time I hear her spectacular voice :)

Such a beautiful job on this song Cyndi. Loved it. I get too sad thinking about Prince. Watching this performance nearly brought me to tears. 💜

After all those years, she still performed that song exactly like she did in 1983 and that's rare. Many other artists whom had hit songs back in the days especially from the 80's would dubbed it down or played an acoustic version to make more a hipster sound for the 2000's and so on. But Cyndi kept it exactly the way it is when she first played it forty years ago.

Awesome cover song! Yeah, Prince certainly gave birth to the song, but Cyndi adopted it, raised it, and gave it a soul and a heart. 🔥👏💗

What blows me away is she was in her early 60s here and sounds phenomenal. This is the BEST live version I can find on KZread of her doing this song. The 80s AMAwards performance comes close though. The emotion and vocal delivery was completely on point in this video. Outstanding! 👏🙌

Saw her when she toured with Cher in Grand Rapids, Michigan in the early '00s. Then again in Berkeley with the B-52s a few years later. Her heartfelt live versions of "True Colors" always brings tears to my eyes.

I used to love this song when it first came out back in the 80's ... But I have to say that NOW viewing the clip I was impressed by the Looks and VOICE of Cyndi. I hope more people could appreciate this voice that still remains among us today! Hope she can do some international Tours.

There’s a point around the three minute and 45 second mark where I thought she was going to cry. I can’t see good enough to realise if the drummer is Sterling Campbell, who had already toured in 1987 together with her, in addition to have been part of Duran Duran or simply David Bowie’s drummer or of the band The B-52’s too. In fact, I met him twice at the backstage of this band (2013 and 2019)

Can someone please help me identify one of Cyndi's earliest recorded live performances? I've been chasing it for the better part of 20 years to no avail. I was kid...maybe 1983? I was watching a late evening program. They had a musical guest that I had never heard of. Out comes Cyndi in a green tu tu and flaming hair. I was so taken by her looks that I don't remember the song. It likely was Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. I distinctly remember her crawling on to one of the large motorized television cameras on stage as she was singing. I think the camera operator was articulating the camera as she was crawling on it. The performance was absolutely arresting and I was a huge fan from that moment on. I would LOVE to see this performance again. I've searched the Internet high and low and I've never been able to find it.
