Cycling West Sweden, Jönköping to Falköping

The western part of Sweden has a good network of bike routes which lead you on small countryside roads through farmland and forests, to historical sights and small towns. The towns Jönköping and Falköping are two main train hubs and also located on the main bike routes. Bicycles are allowed on the regional trains “Västtåg” on a first-come-first-serve basis and are free of charge.
The towns are about 100 km apart depending on the choice of route. The route described in the video is 100 km and there are two train stops on the way if you want to make the route shorter. From Jönköping it starts out on Västgötaleden which first takes you north to Habo and then west to Dalum. There it joins Ätradalsleden which takes you north to Falköping. This route runs on a discontinued train line without any other traffic, whereas other parts of the route follows small countryside roads. All routes are found on Open Cycle map (link below). There is plenty of space for camping along the way if you want to stay over night (see the “Right of public access” in the links below) and many lakes to swim in, as well as some campsites and other accommodation.
