Cycle Touring Ireland: Biking the Irish Coast
The UK & Ireland bike tour continues, and we'd arrived on the Emerald Isle! This time, we'd cycle tour from Dublin to Cork for 5 days. Cycling along the east coast of Ireland and we camped and pedalled our way through the Irish countryside. Bike travel in Ireland is stunning, and Irish hospitality didn't disappoint. We met countless local Irish people and even another cycle touring couple from France who we joined forces with for two days. We wild camped on a beach, were hosted by Irish Gaelic speakers who taught us about Irish culture, and enjoyed the last of the warm weather as summer began to recede into autumn.

Your right, the scenery is great but what make the journey epic is the people we meet along our path.

@@TieranFreedman It is actually illegal in ireland for vans or any vehicle to splash water on you.Don't think its widely enforced but its on the books anyway.

I first found your channel watching "the troubles video" then followed with welsh "terrorist" video, Isle of Man and now this. Damn, these movies are really made well. Such an enjoyment to watch and very soothing in a good way. At the end of this video I was filled with a sense of well being having followed your cozy (and sometimes rainy) biking trip. Keep the good content up and I wish you good luck from Sweden!

Thanks for the kind words! So glad you're enjoying the videos. Haha once we made it to Scotland it was pretty much constant rain and/or cold 😅 There are several more videos to come from this series and then a totally new series coming at the end of the year/start of next year!

Although I’ve lived 21 years in Manchester, I’m fiercely proudly Irish at age 52 and still hold an Irish passport - I still have extended family in Co. Meath and I still visit them on SailRail via Holyhead - Dublin all the time - I’m delighted to see that you have got to visit Ireland - Cead Mile Failte go hEireann Agus Go Raibh Mile Maith Agait 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️

Great trip! I've been cycling Ireland the other way round in 2010. For the rain just: try rainlegs . They keep your legs pretty dry and it's easier with cycling than rainthrousers.

Hi there, I'm starting a bikepacking trip to and through Ireland next week. Currently I'm still not sure about which direction to cycle is wiser due to the wind in Ireland. I could go either from north to south or south to north on the westcoast. Do you have any reccomandation? How did it go on your way from south to north?

Good luck with your trip! I believe the prevailing wind comes from the Southeast, so South to North might give you a better chance of cycling with the wind. Having said that we still dealt with a fair bit of headwind on our way north. Wishing you many tailwinds!
