Cycling the entire length of the UK - LeJog

Ойын-сауық

In this video my brother and I attempt to cycle the entire length of the UK. More commonly known as 'Lejog', or 'Jogle' the other way, our route was 1,500 kilometres with a total elevation gain of 15,674m!

Well done! I did it in 1989 as part of a small group to raise money for the St David’s Foundation. We had a support car and stayed in B&B. Despite it being many years ago, I still look back on it as being one of the best things I have ever done. I remember reaching Wem near Shrewsbury and seeing a weather chart with a single large arrow indicating a 25mph wind against, which persisted until Dunfermline. I broke a gear cable at Hawick, which was repaired free of charge at a bike shop in Galashiels. A wonderful experience! I should love to do it again the other way. I carried only a spare inner tube and a few hours worth of food. All credit to you both, as you did it the proper way with panniers and a tent. Great fun!

Well done lads. I did LEJOG last year but it took me 23 days. I am 62 though so hopefully that gives me some latitude. It was an amazing ride, one that I had been wanting to do forever, and one I will never forget. Unless you have done this ride I don't think you can understand how special it is.

Brilliant stuff guys, I completed LEJOG last month with a huge giraffe on my bike for charity. Knowing the roads you took really made me admire how fast you were moving! It took me a week longer than you! A huge congrats, a tremendous achievement.

I live right next to that view point in the Highlands, maybe 4km away, and going up that climb is on my usual rides. I love seeing other cyclists and tourists a the viewpoint because seeing it every day it's easy for it to become "normal" and to not take in how amazing it is. On a clear day you can see the mountains on the west coast and also the most northern mountain in the UK. Brilliant effort!! Especially in the rain

Well done lads. You'll never forget that was first time riding LEJOG. I first (and last) rode it in 2020 and although it didn't rain this much it presented it's own challenges... like lots of pubs and camp sites still shut. Alas it was awesome - thanks for filming - great to see some of those views once more.

I've cycled some of this distance myself, but in the other direction. With my family we've done John O'Groats to Scarborough along the north sea cycle route. That's mostly along the coast, but up in northern Scotland you're somewhat limited on road choice so we did the same trip from Lairg to Altnaharra (but I went to Tongue). Comming over the bridge in to Inverness and seeing all the oil rigs, derricks and supply ships anchored in the Moray Firth is a sight

As someone who has previously done 320km+ in a day, I wonder, how did you avoid severe pain in between your...legs? That whole area in contact with the seat... To me, 140km~ish goes fine but sometimes the next day I feel some pain, one day for recovery is ideal before continuing, but you just did that, went to sleep, did it again... It was just hammer on, no time for any pain to recover, so I was just wondering. Are the seats just too good? Or the clothing? Or maybe just a good bike fit...
