    Hold on a minute. I see you took apart and reassembled everything EXCEPT the main drive unit. You replaced that whole assembly with a new one already preassembled. So technically, it's not really a rebuild...it's basically a replacement.

    Jatco* Jatco designed these transmissions. Nissan/Renault just overly invested into them lol. They are also the same manufacturer (Jatco) that made the CD009-CD00A transmission for the 350/G35 - 370Z/G37 that is capable of holding up to 800HP with no issues other than slight synchro wear

    First mistake using a screw driver to split the case. Damaging the sealing surface could cause a leak. But most of all he did not clean all the oil passages. belt and pulley wear causes excessive metal dust.

    I need my Juke Done. And possibly improved in some kind of way. I don't need that much sealer though, that stuff is going to be all mixed in with the CVT fluid clogging Passage ways.. I was told to be careful with that stuff, too center it using a small amount and slightly more by bolt holes and sometime less is more. You can see how much came out the sides, so just figure ho much went inside.. Dude it was a great vid, the dude is bad ass. Just constructive critic.. ( I hear that Most trans shops are using Lock Tight 515 for Gasket sealer on their rebuilds and not a lot and There are kit's with roller's and better Ball Bearings. The one Passage that has the 3 balls into by the valve body that makes the pully's move, They have a replacement for that is 1 round piece and improves the shifts and placement of the belt and pulleys..) There are PPL saying you can't get New CVT's anymore but, I found a Brand new CVT for my Make and model Juke still in the box. Brand New $5500.. Sounds about right for these days.. But My CVT isn't that Bad Yet.. It really just needs a Good re-Build By someone who know's how to rebuild them right.. The Hard part is finding that person or shop!!

    Disconnect the cooler lines where they come from the radiator, or remove the transmission cooler/warmer from the transmission but leave the coolant lines connected. Then pressurize the radiator with a cooling system leak tester and see if coolant comes out of the open oil lines, your tranny is contaminated if coolant comes out here. Also, if the oil level increases in the transmission, thats where it is coming from. There is really no other fluid that leaks into the transmission without you adding it.

    Awesome video. You hardly see anything related to work on Nissan's. I was hoping for some advice. I have an older 2015 Murano. I been changing the transmission fluid with NS3 every 35000 km or 20,000 miles or so. It's still coming out relatively dark. Like a charcoal. Is that normal? I do mostly city driving which is why I try to change it more. Is there any point to this? Also any other fluid other then NS3 that can be used? I'm out of warranty already.

    It's suspected that a problem with Nissan's cooling system is making the CVT transmission unreasonably sensitive to heat. The temperature of the cars transmission fluid is controlled by a small cooler as opposed to a radiator and it's not regulating the temperature of the fluid responsible for lubricating the parts in the transmission. Should a car overheat and go into "fluid protection mode" transmission performance will be reduced and as a result the driver may experience trouble accelerating, vehicle shaking or jerking and or complete failure of the CVT. What are your feelings on this subject?

    I guess this was addressing some specific issues that did not include the CVT component itself. I like to learn what's going on which is why I watch 4L60 rebuilds, ZF8 rebuilds and now that I have a new CVT car, CVT maintenance and rebuilds. Interesting stuff for the idle-minded but of course almost nobody will watch this unless they have some specific desire to do so. I didn't know CVT was so prevalent. My car comes with a 10-year warranty and I'm no longer a crazy hatch back speed chick and drive moderately, so I don't care what the gearbox is if the vehicle has a long warranty.

    I have a query that I hope someone can answer. The Transmission is continuously variable as the name indicates but what happens in manual mode where it mimics set gear ratios. Logic tells me that the belt will remain in a fixed position for each gear ratio. If this is the case, would this cause uneven wear on the pulleys and cause premature failure?

  • @en4orser

    @en4orser

    3 ай бұрын

    The belt itself is comprised of some odd 2000 individual little clips. Each having a indent on its lower back and detent on upper front, holding each other in place. The groves of the two pullies it rides in are inclined and they slide back and forth. Fluid pressure being the force that determines their position. Which inturn manipulate the tension and shape of this $1500 belt. The advantage of this design is cutting half the size and weight of a traditional transmission, thus being a big roll in achieving those high MPG's. But also resulting in higher temperatures in it of itself. Poorly managed by an inadequate cooler. Heat causes this impressively engineered belt to fail. Whether Jatco's engineers reluctantly and ultimately refused to bring light of such an error. Or the company itself intentionally swindled Nissan with an initial first production run of high quality control then cut costs after contacts were deemed satisfied and locked in. Or perhaps neither Nissan or Jatco were unaware of an issue until thousands had already been sold (God forbid either company take what would be a significant loss to correct). My money says that cvt was common knowledge being a PoS before the first production left out the door

    You can't really properly maintain a Rube Goldberg mechanism. These things are designed to fail, and fail so expensively that there won't be a second hand market for them and people will have to buy new cars. If they can afford it that is. The way things are going, half the country is going to be without a vehicle by 2030.

    In 2019 I had to get my cvt replaced. I had an extended warranty through my bank so I paid less but the bank had to pick up the tab that was about $4,500 and took about 2 and a half weeks. I suspect it would cost more and take longer with shortages of parts and staff with the necessary skills. A junk yard might be a good place to look for a car with a transmission to bandaid while you limp along and save for a full on replacement cvt. I know the comment was made a while ago but this info will hopefully be valuable to those in this situation and stumble across my comment. If you have not had trouble yet, get a warranty the day you get your car inspected (if applicable). That's what saved my bacon from being denied. They can't raise any concerns about it already existing if you get your inspection the same day.

    Hello, no pro-active service you can do, unless Nissan comes up with a program update or some type of recalls. Yes they do make improvements all the time, the newer transmissions are way better than the older ones, but there are ways to go still. In my personal opinion these transmissions have no place on commercial trucks or towing yet. My personal opinion.

    Question for the community here. after dealing with the infuriating "limp mode" on my Juke CVT transmission several times the thing finally broke for good at 123K miles. Rants against the ghastly lapse in quality from Nissan with these damn CVTs and "limp mode" abound on other sites so thats not my objective here. My question is - dealership replaced my transmission with a remanufactured one from Baltimore, should I expect that "limp mode" will have been fixed and that this CVT is more reliable? My old transmission was from a 2013 juke, I'm thinking the remanufactured one must be newer right?

    After watching this video I am totally miffed at the person who rebuilt it. For what a customer gets charged, or if it was under warranty that later fails it is because of poor workmanship. Not all of the wear items were changed. He measured the height of the clutch packs but as standard practice they should have been replaced, he did not even inspect them. All the seals were not changed, the bearing, a wear item was not pressed out and changed, and on and on. Am I missing something here. I don't care if it is in your specification it could have been contaminated and a full rebuild done.
