Is the mitre cut screen frame stronger than the square cut?

I recently made some screens using the kits from a local big store using the square cut with plastic corner inserts. I also re-screened some that had the mitered corners with metal inserts. In my opinion the mitered corners with metal inserts were stronger and stiffer than the ones with the plastic corners.
