BEFORE commenting, read this: *This sawmill is not a finished product *This sawmill has dual power source, both petrol and electric, thus the purpose of the heavy electric motor on the saw head *The electric motor is the main power source, but it's not hooked up yet (you can see the power box near the sawmill outside) *I can't use a centrifugal clutch on the petrol engine since it hooks up to the same jackshaft as the electric motor and the revs don't match (electric motor has constant 1435 rpm, centrifugal clutch works at higher revs) *There is a designated spot for the blade coolant/lube tanks on the blade cover, although they're not hooked up either *There will be a proper height adjustment system with 5 mm increments *The axle of the sawmill trailer is not in my way and there's no need for it to be removable *It's not hard to push the blade through the wood, although a hand powered feeding system will come *The sawmill trailer must not be lower, it is at a proper working height since I'm 6'3"-4"-ish/192 cm tall, my back thanks me already for that *Log loading system will consist of a winch and log ramps, I will not make it hydraulic, at least not in the nearest future *I have a log arch that'll be used for moving logs around, also by hand *I will use the boards I cut on the sawmill for future projects *I have planned a sawmill shed build to cover the sawmill from the elements and to insure a dry working environment for myself *The corners of the blade guards will stay, at least in the beginning, so there's more room to handle the blade since the guards aren't easily removable, even if it looks bad *I will paint the mill but as you may already understand - the looks of the machines is not that important to me - I care about the mechanical condition and functionality *The sawmill trailer will have removable lights for portability - we already have a set that we use for towing cars *This is not the last video about this sawmill - it's just the last video of the build series ;) This list here pretty much sums up what I still have to do before I can call this sawmill being finished. But I couldn't wait that long to make the first cut, I bet you didn't either. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for future videos! Cheers!

Donn DIY The interaction between the electric motor and the engine is one of the things I am still wondering but once you built the slide bars I figured you would only have the belt on for the power supply being used. I look forward to future upgrades and additions.

Your fabricating and designing on the fly skills were fun and remarkable watch. I have seen a few of the sawmill build series on KZread, your's was both enlightening and entertaining. Many thank yous from an old fart that use to make a living taking big pieces and turning them into little pieces to make big pieces.

You're right about the belts - that's exactly how I planned on using them, and in the homestead I'm mostly going to run the electric motor, or if we're off grid due to power outage then the petrol engine. Future upgrades will come for sure. There's a lot more to tinker, it just doesn't show externally (except for the paint job of course :D).

Great machine ! Oh and the lollypop joke was the best
Must feel awesome to do that first cut. Well done on such a grand build and great results.
I've watched this video multiple times now as well as the build itself. A very good job all the way around in my opinion! Was considering using tires for my build but just bought a large bandsaw that I will convert to use horizontal as a mill head. Your build gave me lots of ideas for my mill. Thank you!!!
Glad to see it come out cutting so well on the first cut with no adjustments, awesome work
Great job nothing more satisfying cutting your first boards congratulations on a job well done . Thanks for sharing your journey on the build
Amazing my friend, simply amazing. Hats off to you! That's an awesome machine you've built.
Very Nice... It worked very well... Great Videos on this Build... Thank you for taking the time to video this build... I know this was a lot of extra work for you to produce all these video... But It does help others... Thank Again...

Mr. Don, I enjoyed watching you make this mill, I really like your ability to think on the fly, I look forward to any and all upgrades to the mill. Thank you for sharing your ingenuity with us all.

I still have to make the saw gantry lock down mounts for highway use, lights and etc. Also it's still not painted, so sandblasting and paint are major things to still do on this mill. Also front cover for the blade.
SWEET!!! What an accomplishment! Such an innovative shop build. Absolutely excellent job man!! Can’t wait to see what you do with the wood you mill
thanks for the great video! It was so rewarding to see you cut lumber after all of your work! Thank you for sharing!
Первый запуск и в полне удачный ! Молодец парень!
Настоящий мужик! Собрал реально действующее изделие из говна и палок и оно заработало ! Круто чувак! Успехов в делах!

your the man i love your fab skills and what u built 25yr fab man myself. thank you from reagan tn
OUTSTANDING! it must be great to finally get to the cutting stage!
It’s just amazing, you only need an automatic water feeder for the bandsaw? Thank you for sharing your amazing video. God bless you and your family
I like it !!! Looks like it works very well, another reason for me to get off my butt and start building the bandsaw mill I've been working on.
Pretty Good! I built a sawmill from scratch without any plans except what was in my mind. Keep it up!
PRETTY GOOODD !! im very impressed i started out watching you mill spruce and saw your log dogs and was impressed with that so i checked your channel to watch the build and your a very clever guy ! So many things you did look much better the most i see . i really like the adjustable guides ! i look forward to building my own soon! And watching more of your builds ! Good luck to you and God Bless !

I am impressed , Excellent job. 10/10, watched the whole series really enjoyed it, want more keep making those videos better than TV.
Awesome job! I was very excited to see how well it worked!
With your attention to detail, your talents at engineering and your considerable abilities working with metal, I would have expected nothing less than great planks of wood coming off of your mill. Outstanding and the envy of more than a few I would wager with me being one of them. Mike

No envy needed, just stubborn attitude and lots of time to tinker. Punching bag at hand would also be a great addition to the work shop for letting off steam, if needed. :D
Art and industry! Exceptional design and build; well done. Surely will bring many years of good service and discovery. Love the end of cuts release of interior tension in the wood.

Let's hope so! I will upgrade it according to my needs and hopefully I'll manage to keep it going for a long time. ;)
The smile on your face after the first cut said it all. Well done Donn!
Sweet...well worth the wait. Cuts nice planks. Nice bit of home grown engineering.
I was going to ask why both electric and petrol motors, but I see you already answered it. Fantastic job.
So excellent. Was great to see it roll out of the barn and into the light in all its glory. I could almost feel you ready to jump up and down and dance to get it going. Such an impressive machine. And to work right from the start without any fiddling. I am so impressed with your talent, hard work, but above all your generosity in sharing the build with us on line. Congrats. I look forward to lots more sawing videos.

More sawing vids will come. And also from the needed additions to the sawmill like blade lube, height adjustment, paint, lights, hooking up electric motor etc. The list goes on. I just have to attend to other projects in the meanwhile, thus the end of the series. But more will come, stay tuned! :D
Nice work, and exceptionally captivating... I will watch it again and again... thanks
Great job!!! Turned out freekin amazing!!
Congratulations! I love the series and hope to see more of you soon
Followed the entire build. Great job. Im jealous.
Nice mill, good workmanship. I had built one when I worked in a shop in northern Alberta. I started off with a 6.5 hp engine but found it a little sluggish when i got into the bigger logs. I replaced it with a 15 hp what a world of differance. We move back to Sask. And haven t used it since.
Great job! Greetings from Puerto Rico.
Nice, VERY NICE!!!! One day, when I go about building one for me..... I'll think of your project. All the best to you.
You are very skilled with your hands, the machine was amazing. (Eres muy habilidoso con las manos, la maquina quedó increible.
If this machine was made from old scrap steel and two bike tyres or even new everything,it is made really dam well
Fantastic. Loved (and watched) every video. PreTTy goood!!!
Muito bom acompanhei todo o processo de construção. Parabéns.
Donn you did a fantastic job. I hope your very proud of yourself. You made the sawmill with parts you made, a design that came out of your head. DAMN GOOD JOB.

Great job. What an achievement. You are the man
Nice job. I watched this about a year ago. You’ve got some great ideas.
Nice Build. Beautiful Country you live in.
Take a piece of your conveyor belt stick and make a couple of sawdust pusher for the track, they work very well.
Amazing build !! 🤜🤛 I’m 3 years late to this party so you have probably already thought of this. Cordless drill to adjust the leveling jacks.
"Pretty Good" Happy Fathers day and well done!
EXCELLENT , now do we get to watch you take it all apart and paint it then put it back together? Sure glad that it turned out so good for you!! Now you can mull over what you have built and then dress it up like you want with your accessories. Thanks for sharing this project. Enjoy this one for a while and then get busy with another project. Have fun, I'm back to dreaming.

You pretty much summed up my plans right on the money. :D I'm not sure when I'm able to take it all apart time-wise, but I want to do that for sure. And make a video of it too.
Руки и голова на месте,молодец!здорово!
Молодец!!! Местный кулибин. Так держать 👍👍👍
Never seen that many weights on one wheel. Just thought I would tell you, you are the best at this stuff. I have been with you from the start.
mig welding that frame is hard, any welding distorts and pulls the metal, the fact that your track is working and straight is an amazing feat ! Great work young man !!
