I save my lavender trimmings for tinder for the wood stove. The dry branches smell great, and they ignite easily.

I have an idea: wouldn't be wonderful if you made a compilation of Russell being Russell? 😂❤️😊

I have requested that as well. Maybe if we keep asking they will make one. It will go viral I am sure. I get totally distracted when Russell does his thing and have to watch a second time to see what the actual content is.
I love it when Russell plays “king of the trellis”😸
Thank you .I have been a gardener longer than you’ve been alive and I never knew you could prune and not have that woody base .I’m 79 so you’re never to old to learn.I love your videos ❤️
Lets start a game! Spot the cat in Lauras videos 😂 he's always around and in the most random places. Makes me laugh every time #wheresRussel 🤪❤

Russell really is the best garden cat. Does he follow you back inside when you are finished, or stay outside?
Thank you for your continued postings. Those of us in "lock down" appreciate the simple pleasures.

I wish you could feel the “feels” your videos give us. When you cut back the lavender does it have that wonderful smell?💜😊
Russell Russell & more Russell. Just makes my heart sing. Love the peak a boo mama but especially the bonus footage of filmed lavender - he still makes an appearance! I love lavender but in zone 3B so it's an annual here. So pretty.

Love this trimming vids! When I saw a blonde lady in a clip I thought it was a diff clip from another gardener but it was Laura only with blonde hair😆
You know you're in a different league when you prune lavender with tiny clippers, and Laura uses a 'chainsaw'. But I'm not jealous ... honest! ROFL :) Thanks for this great video, off now to prune my lavender with my pretend hedge cutter.

WORX brand tools (and I'm sure other brands) make a small battery powered shrub/hedge clipper that's a good size between hand clippers and a full sized hedge trimmer. I have one and find it very useful. (Sorry- don't know how to link to it)
Love your lavender hedge. So pretty in full bloom. Russell is so funny! He’s always climbing to the top of something!
Laura as a barefoot blonde in the garden! No wonder Aaron swooped you up! You're a lovely lady and continue to be so... 😊 My daughters and I have enjoyed your video's for years.....much love from a fellow gardener.
With everything that's is going on in the world thank you for bringing joy in to our lifes. I always look forward to your next video...You guys are awesome. Thank you again (chicago, Illinois)
Seeing Laura back in the garden makes my heart happy.
Rain today in NJ. Can’t wait to get to work on my two lavenders. Now I know not to cut into old wood. I get 5 years then I have to rip them out. Thank you.
This comes at a perfect timing! I was just staring at my (very small, very young) lavender bushes thinking whether I should cut them back.
Thank you! Learning all the mistakes I've made with my lavender plant, but now I know for the future!
Thank you for the pop of color at the end. So nice to see. 🥰
Cut _above_ the new spring growth! 🎉
I love the music Aaron adds to the videos. He uses such great choices! Adds so much to the feel of the video! Great job Aaron!

That view at the end! Wow. Thanks for the video. You guys are working hard. And we appreciate it. 💜💜💚
I have planted trays of Lavender seeds. They are an annual in Alberta but last year I did plant two perennials that are suppose to be able to handle my winter, so we will see if they come back. Oh, I hope so. It's my favorite flower.
Always one of my favorite plants. It’s a reminder of “grandmas garden”. Thanks for the tips and tricks. Oh, and good morning! 👏🏻🦋🌸👏🏻
So glad I watched this. I was not going to prune my little guys but now I will!
I'm really starting to love the back fence!! I've always loved white, but I can really tell how the black blends in so well and help the plants to really pop. I bought all black pots last year after starting to watch you and now I'm wondering what else I can paint black.

Very helpful! I've been wanting spring but now I'm yearning for summer flowers too!! 👍😉💕
Thank you for your concise explanations of gardening techniques! I always enjoy your joyful approach to gardening. I find myself looking for some of the plants you share. Never change.
Great idea ..hate how lavender goes all woody! Thanks fo the tips
Great timing I’m doing mine today and re potting cuttings from last year 🙏🏻
Beautiful! My mom used to have lavender many many years ago, and I was just thinking of planting some in my yard this year. Thank you for sharing!
I needed this video, have 1 older lavender plant and 3 just from last year. You know what I’m doing this week. Thanks Russell for your timely appearances😁🐈
Hey Laura, love the lavender pruning tips to keep woody plants in Check... some of my lavender is at least a foot high with woody stems... grrrr!.... was wondering....have you ever bundled &dried the lavender trimmings and used them as fire starter? I’ve seen bundles for sale on Etsy.... I look forward to your daily inspiration! Thank you so much! 🧚Hugs, from Rena a fellow plant maniac 🌿😍🌿
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much. The last clip of on full Bloom lavander was a huge plus!
Beautiful whe yours blooms. Thanks for sharing. I hope you have a blessed day and stay safe
God uses specific plants to encourage me and today it was lavender. So thankful to see this up only 14 hours ago. Thank you for being apart of my life.
Could you do some videos about growing herbs and Veggies out on a small patio? These days we could use the food supply and the activity would keep us all busy who don't have their own yards. Thanks
I think I see your fence going in, in the back ground. Going to plant some lavender this year. 😀
Great video! Beautiful morning there! Beautiful lavender plants! Learned things I did not know about them. Thanks!
Such a happy kitty! Love you Russell 😻😻
This video was very helpful. Did not know about not cutting the woody part. Thanks!
Great info Laura. I can imagine what its like to walk along side of the lavenders and the fragrance they release. Thanks again for the tutorial.
That’s so pretty in full bloom! Thx for these tips, I just got a baby lavender plant. Looks like I now need about 20 more! 👍🏽😊👍🏽
So glad I watched this! I started lavender from seed last year and wasn’t sure what to do with it. 👍
Many thanks Laura. Having struggled with maintaining lavender over the years, that was just what I needed - keep up the good work!
Perfect timing as I was cutting on the lavender plant at work yesterday and was wondering how much to cut off!!! Nice coffee with Laura and Russell video to watch along with my cat who won't move from the screen as soon as she see's Russell lol Thank you for all the information and I love looking back at your old videos as well in fact I may spend the day binge watching them :)
Time for me to go do my lavender too!! Thank you for the showing us!!💜💜💜
This video was very helpful! My first 3 lavenders planted 3 years ago have become a woody mess. I now plan to plant more and will be sure to keep them tidy and trimmed.
You can mix the lavender clippings in with your chicken bedding to keep the flies away.
❤️ Be safe out there!!!
I absolutely love lavender. Is that a plant I could actually grow in my home?? And I am so glad that you gave us a look of what it looks like when it's all in bloom. I am not surprised that it is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for another great video.
that worked so well for me that its the way I do it now every year.
I grow lavender, but had not heard of trimming it this way. I’m definitely going to try this!
Love our lavender hedge. Such great tips!

Gidget same. I found the channel a couple years ago trying to figure out how many plants to put in a hanging basket. I believe it was right around the time they moved into their current house. The old videos are super helpful to me because my yard is very similar in size to that one. I think I’ve watched the old house tour 100 times 😂

I literally spend a couple hours bringing old videos at least once a month, I loved her old garden for ideas because it’s closer to what I’m working with, but hopefully one day I’ll have a garden closer to the size of her current one
I really appreciate you explaining why you do what you do vs traditional guides. It really helps making Informed decisions on what will work best for me and my garden!
Those images at the end of this video is just gorgeous ... I took your advice about well drained dirt and let dry out in between watering from your past videos and my one little Lavender plant is flourishing just beautiful ... thank you Laura. 💜🌸💕🌼🌺🌼💕🌸💜
Spring 2021 here just to make sure I don’t make any mistakes
Keep green and keep our planet clean, Thanks for d lovely video.
I was wondering which was the best way to trim down my lavender. Thanks for sharing. 💗🌻💗🌻
This video was helpful even though I don’t have lavender. You showed how to fertilize with a gravel ground cover. So nice to know that you don’t have to rake the gravel back to bare dirt to till in the fertilizer.
at the top of my list of favorite herbs... love it love it love it.. and so do the pollinators... i was so happy when i saw you cut it like this, and now i do that, too... it's a little scary but oh so worth it.. i don't care for the woody stems and this is the way to handle that!! love it as this hedge around your vegetable garden..so french provincial!
Your hair looks awesome pulled back.... like when it was blonde!!! You should wear it again that way!! So so pretty!!!!
Your lavender will love the lime it gets from the gravel which is its ideal condition.
This has been so helpful, I am just starting out with lavender and to get it right from the start well that's a win.
I will be planting some lavender this spring, I think I over watered my last plant and cut into the woody base and lost it. Thank you for all the tips, I will have more success now. Love seeing Russell in the video too, makes me want to get a kitty and I've alway been a dog person. Your videos bring so much inspiration and get our minds off of the current situation, please keep them coming.🐈 ❤️
Gosh, I needed this video today. Thank you.
This is really good ! I planted some lavender last year and this is the first season ! I kinda cut them bad .. so I really hope they come back ! They don’t have woody stems ! Thank you for this video! 😅🥰
Beautiful Lavendar. They are a challenge to grow but so beautiful! ❤️
You are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your knowledge in videos 🌱
I just went back and watched a bunch of old videos and I personally love, love the blonde hair! Especially for Summer. Second the bees! Now I really wish you would do bees again on your new land! I want to have some for pollination and would love a video or videos of bee keeping. Thanks again on the lavender pruning. I have no luck here in Georgia. I think it's the humidity.
OH my, that looks gorgeous in the summer picture!! I LOVE lavender but have never been able to get it to grow like that!! Looks BEAUTIFUL in a mass planting. Think you're inspiring me to plant more than one plant of anything!! I'm always wanting to try new stuff but one plant of anything doesn't create any pop at all!! Love your "Garden Kitty!!"
Gorgeous! I wish I could plant a row of Lavender!
You are awesome. Love how you explain and do all your projects.
I wonder if Russell would tolerate a GoPro so we could have some kittycam footage?!?!
Thank you Laura, that helps me alot, you are amazing.
I just had to go back and look at last years video. Last year you cut back all your lavender in March as well. Started worrying since I’ve been following the early Spring trim schedule. 💜
My mom loves lavender patio trees. We’ve had two of them and the never last past 1 year because when I prune them they don’t flush back. This video gave me insight, super helpful.
Lovely Laura 😍 Thanks 🥰
Thanks so much for this!!!! Doing it today. Probably late on getting around to it but better late than never.
Those trimmings must’ve smelled heavenly!
Everytime I watch you "tackle" trimming a plant it reminds me of a delivery nurse with a newborn. You appear to handle them so rough. I know that it is the same as the nurse. You know what your doing and you know how to efficiently get the job done because you have done it for years.
I hadn't heard of this method with lavender. I'm going to give it a try. As much as I love lavender, I haven't had good success with them. Thanks!
Laura, you are just great 👍 If only I could have half of your energy. Watching your videos makes me realice that’s really over for me but not to admire and appreciate your videos. Keep it up 👍 blessings.
Thanks for this! Not lavender related, but ... how do you rake over gravel like that?? I've never been able to keep it tidy doing that!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! MY HUSBAND BOUGHT LAVENDER FOR MY BIRTHDAY BUT HAD NO IDEAS FOR THE CARE. YOU MADE IT SO SIMPLE! THANK YOU AGAIN! STAY BLESSED!
Mind reader, again.... I was about to look up what I should do with mine. This is its first over-winter, and it was a mild one, so I’m hoping it has survived and I can keep it going. I have terrible luck with lavender but I adore it so much I am determined to grow it.
Thank you for this information. Love your channel.
No wonder my lavender died, darn! I was not taking care of it correctly. Time to buy more🤗
