Here i cut out one of my all time favourite country music singers the legendary man in black Johnny Cash, the pattern was made by my friend Charles Dearing

    Nice job Trevor, you make it look easy. Never thought of painting the frame first then cutting the edge. It gives a good look. Nice tip

    Painting the frame first was a random idea I wanted to try for a while and I'm sure I'll do it again I kinda like it too ...as always thanks for watching mike!

    always wanted to do a portrait of my family in wood...that was very cool ...what kind of conversion kit are you using for your spiral blades...mine is homemade because my scrollsaw is 20 years old handed down from my dad....love your videos

    I do portraits too for friends here. How long did it take you to cut this one and what size did you print the image to. I have been doing mine at an 8x11 and the detail is somewhat hard and tedious. Is printing bigger patterns easier to cut?

    I printed the pic at 8.5x11 and the board was 10x13 and took 30 mins or so to cut if that ....and yes the bigger you print the easier it is cause the small details get bigger Thanks for watching!

    The biggest tip that helped me when I was starting out was don't be scared to turn the piece on a tight corner and don't be scared to try anything ...and blades I only use 2 different ones for everything a skip tooth it cleans out better with thicker wood and a reverse tooth which helps a lot with fuzzies ..Steve good has a great video explaining different blades

    This picture came from a friend named Charles dearing his link is in the discription but when I make my own stencils I use coyote stencil shop 3 or Inkscape...thank you for watching

    I used pine thinned down to 1/4” for the backer and the cutout
