average lifespan can be upwards of 3-4 years, we've had quite a few that lived a full 4. syrians you have to give quite a bit of attention to, dwarfs (including djungarians) are about the same since they are solitary. robos (the tiny guys) will live longer if they have a buddy or two or three or four with them. biggest thing is to not ignore the solitary ones all the time when they are showing signs that they want/need something. also dont listen to the insane owners who say not to give them anything except seed, these guys like a variety of foods, french fries and carrots especially. i had one djungarian a few years back (was a hard one to deal with when she passed at almost 4 1/2 years) all she wanted to do was sit with me and crack open sunflower seeds. every morning id come out, make coffee, grab her (she would be awake and waiting for me) and plop her down in my lap with a pile of unsalted sunflower seeds. shed let me know when her cheeks were full after cracking open all of them, id put her back by her cage and wait while she hid them all, and we would repeat the process 2x.

So sorry my sister had a hamster and it ran into the neighbor's house but we found it then it died
