I used to own a hedgehog like this little guy. He had long ears, pointy nose and brown face just like this! Our spiked little vampire, haha. Gosh we loved him so much, the whole house was his playground! Would feed him round with his favorite crickets, hoppers and mealworms. I had him for 7 years long until he passed away. It's been more than 10 years but we still miss him, rest in peace our little Spikey.

@@phtevenz I've seen a few wild ones here in the UK. Came across a large one sitting in the middle of a road once and tried to pick it up to move him. He hunkered down and there was absolutely no way I could lift him without thick gloves. Ended up using my shoe to nudge him along into some bushes. Never touched one before, but they are truly spikey and formidable little guys.

Almost all animals are eaten alive in the wild. Cats are generally the only non-venomous predators that kill their food, with bites to the neck (or in the case of jaguars, to the skull), before eating it. Some birds drop their living prey onto rocks from high altitudes to kill them. Mother Nature is horrifying.

This is the fakest nature docmentary Ive ever seen lol. They just spliced together a video of an owl hunting a gerbil, and several videos of hedgehogs. Unless hedgehogs have the ability to teleport, this hedgehog somehow managed to cross a sand dune, a flower pasture, a field of brown dry grass, another sand dune, and dug out the entrance to it's burrow in the time it takes an owl to swoop in for a kill. Then they quickly cut between a viper striking at something off screen, (probably at a stick held by one of the crew), then to the hedgehog jumping forward a bit towards something that is again, conveniently just out-of-shot (a bit of tempting bait maybe?), then to the hedgehog chewing something once again offscreen, then the vipers body being drug away by something that is, surprise surprise, OUT OF SCREEN! Either these are the worst cameramen in the nature documentary industry, or all of these animals were filmed seperately.

Had we showed more of the gerbil’s life, we would have gotten attached and found weeping as the owl scoops him away. But.... back to our featured presentation...The hedgehog.

This is a perfect example of how these shows are often full of crap. They take two unrelated pieces of footage, the owl hunting a ground squirrel and the hedgehog roaming, and create a false narrative. In truth the owl was never anywhere near the hedgehog and probably wouldn’t bother with it even if it was.....this bugs the hell out if me because the truth of nature is interesting enough without the added reality television fabricated drama bullshit.

That slice was the work of a BBC issued flip knife. The hedgehog was probably in it's holding box while the snake was taken out of it's own box and put in place for the scene. Then they let the hedgehog get up close for a few shots. Hedgehog takes several bites and is of no use to the crew anymore, so the crew kill the snake which explains why we do not see the actual attack or aftermath. Only the lifeless snake being dragged away by something off camera, that has the force and demeanour of a human hand pulling it off camera. Wonder how many boxes of animals they had to import for this episode?

Omg! Never knew hedgehogs were such badasses in the wild, I especially never would’ve guessed one could defeat a snake, my hedgehog absolutely hates any kinda snake-like noises!

Hah so cute! The way it eats reminds me of my pygmy hedgehog 😂❤️ Also, hedgehogs are actually really surprisingly fast when they actually decide to run! My hedgie runs so quickly and so many miles a night.

@@imcrazyforwar we unfortunately have no idea if it killed that snake. We suspiciously weren't given a shot of physical contact between the two and it's not like there isn't alot of unnatural nature videos that pretty much let you know they sacrificed a animal for a shot.

@@CJM-rg5rt Are you saying it can't eat a snake? All you gotta do is do your homework on its diet. It's known to eat small snakes. Also, they seem to be immune to toxic animals like a viper or a scorpion. So it shouldn't be a surprise if it eats a viper. And since they're opportunist, they'll eat almost anything.

What the narrator does not mention is that all those bugs and reptiles were Dr Eggman Robotnik's cronies
