Birds are really smart, especially the ones we domesticated and their wild counterparts. Like if you have chickens, gooses, the hen would let you touch the babies, your pet parrots as well (of course if you feed them and spend enough time to trigget the friend switch instead of foe). My cousin is a falconer (neat job, her falcon's duty is to scare away birds from airports) her falcon is surprisingly calm and let her slide stuff what would be a big no-no for anyone else. Mama Duck quickly connected the dots in her head that: babies in danger that I can't solve and if the big scary animal wanted to hurt them they would've did it already. Well, if you wanted to bother the ducklings while are they not in distress, Mama Duck would've defend them obviously because at that point you are the only danger.

It's interesting that mom was worried when half of them were still missing but when she had most of them, it was more important to get the survivors to a safe place than risk them waiting for the last one. Definitely a survival instinct.

Thank goodness for a happy ending. It was wonderful to witness all of the ducklings being lifted to safety on the street and reunited with their mother. They're so tiny and so very dependent on mom. The caring and concern of all those involved in the rescue was reassuring.

Well,with fast moves and bad intentions. At my park they let me get super close,but not like closer than 1 meter,I just sit there sometimes they come close to me I once pet 2 geese,3 swans 😯 and the ducklings are yet to be pet they are adorable 😻😍 I've been very close to the wild ducks 😍🤩 I'm researching what is good for them,BREAD IS ABSOLUTELY NOT GOOD,best bet is lettuce 💖

I always love when a wild animal realizes when someone is trying to help and not hurt. She is so concerned with the well being of her chicks that she is overcoming her own natural fear and hanging around, literally right next to the guys, simply because she has recognized that they are not posing a threat to her or her chicks and that they are genuinely helping

Sorry to say but it doesn't mean she knew they were trying to help. Wild animals in distress usually don't think we're trying to help. As a protective mom she would risk herself being in close proximity to the humans because they're around her ducklings she needs to retrieve. It doesn't mean she trusts them.

This would surely be a treat for the fire fighters. Rescuing baby animals instead of risking their lives in a fire. It never ceases to amaze me how everyone around the world will do what they can help ducks navigate our cities. Even when that includes stopping traffic to let them safely cross a busy road.

Of course she understands what is happening. And so often we don't give animals the credit they deserve. Their intelligence and instinct beats human intelect in some cases. Animals are awesome.

Right, I feel you. We're so fucked up & selfish, with the occasional breakthrough of compassion. It's been making my stomach turn watching as MORE death, damage, and violence results from the riots in response to a police custody killing. The chain reaction is just as bad as the event.

If we want our species to be like this more often, we need to praise this behavior and condemn bad behavior. Moreover, we need to promote policies that discourage bad behavior in law enforcement and punishes bad actors. And we need to vote and run for office ourselves, based on those policies.

Thank you so much to those awesome firefighters for taking the time to save the ducklings!

Such a shame a big family like this doesn't have somewhere & live peacefully due to deforestation, instead they're wondering around a city:(💔

Oh man, she is a true fearless mom: No inhibitions to walk between the men and no fear of jumping into the dark hole. Her babies matter most. A loving mother... And so funny when she goes right cross over the legs of the lying man.

Female ducks steal each others babies all the time. That's why they usually have like 10 or more ducklings following them when she can only lay about 4 or 5 eggs herself at a time. Half those ducklings aren't hers. Ducks are serial kidnappers.

There's alot people including who would help animals in that case but they are not the same with humans.

These guys are legends, absolutely amazing people poor mama duck was in so much distress and these great guys saved her babies. God bless you all people who were there for her and babies.
