Let's cook! What kind of vegetarian food are you going to cook today? Today I’m going to make a vegetarian dish using king oyster mushrooms and celery, and share a Taiwanese street snack, vegetarian fried chicken steak. When I first came to Taiwan to study in college, my seniors would say, let’s go! I’ll take you to Shilin Night Market for a delicious meal. Big fried chicken steak, a chicken steak bigger than your face~ I said I am a vegetarian, I can eat sweet potato balls, or I can go to Shilin Night Market with you~ There are many kinds of snacks in Taiwan, even vegetarians can find them in the night market Many delicious options. Now, I wanted to transform this memory into a vegetarian dish to commemorate that wonderful time. I will use the meaty texture of king oyster mushrooms and the refreshing flavor of celery to create a unique vegetarian chicken fried steak. This dish is not only a reminder of my life in Taiwan, but also a symbol of my love and kindness. Taiwan’s snack culture is not only about food, but also a place where people gather, communicate and share. Even vegetarian-based dishes can still find their own deliciousness in such an atmosphere. Through this dish, I hope to share my love and memories and encourage everyone to explore more possibilities of vegetarian cuisine. The fried chicken steak at Shilin Night Market may have become part of my memories, but this wonderful time has inspired me to try to create more delicious and healthy vegetarian dishes. This is what I have learned while integrating into life in Taiwan. Food is not only a pleasure for the taste buds, but also a way to share emotions and memories with others. I hope to pass on my love and memories to the people around me through this delicious food, and at the same time encourage more people to start a vegetarian food journey.
The ingredients for this vegetarian home-cooked meal are as follows:
A head of celery
Moderate amount of daylilies
30g carrots
half an apple
3 vegetarian shiitake mushroom legs
1 tablespoon soy sauce
One tablespoon vegetarian oyster sauce
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
Moderate amount of rosemary
3 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon cornmeal
Several pieces of rice paper
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
one teaspoon of sugar
half teaspoon salt
One teaspoon of vegetarian oyster sauce
200CC water
Appropriate amount of Taibai powder water
