Genius! 😎
I really like this method. For those afraid of CA glue on the saw, put some blue painter tape down on the saw and the wood. CA glue the blue tape to the blue tape. When you are done, no mess, no fuss

But now you're right back to depending on the tape to hold things down. In which case, a double stick tape would be simpler. Granted you can typically get wider painters tape than dbl stick tape, so that would give you a little more more adhesion.
@ReadySetBuildIt

@@hansangb the blue tape and CA will be stronger than double stick and you can lay as many lines of blue tape as you need to contour the surface.

@@ReadySetBuildIt You misunderstood me. The tape to CA glue is stronger. But that only applies to (non adhesive side) tape to tape. The blue tape itself is only sticking to the saw and the wood via normal tape adhesion. In between the tapes the CA glue is holding them together. So I'm not sure what you're gaining *unless* your bluetape is stronger than the doublestick tapes adhesive. Both are designed to peel off relatively easy so I'm thinking it's about the same.

I’ve been clamping a triangle to my chop saw for the same effect but I like this method as the thickness of the board provides more stability for the work piece and you don’t have to move the triangle from side to side. Going to give this a try! I also use CA glue for a stop when cutting crown moulding. Comes right off the aluminum as you showed 👍🏻
I've been pining for a SLIDING compound miter saw for SO long now. Whenever anyone asks why I won't shut up about it, it's always because of THIS ability. Our current Miter Saw can only cut across a 2x6 at max. Making these LONG crazy angle cuts are so useful, but our miter saw just won't cut it. Thanks for the tip!
I've seen several ways to do this. But Matt, my man. How you show and do your method is just definitely the easiest way I've seen. So thank you. I don't have a miter saw yet. But that will come in handy once I do. Great job brother.
I have used this method and indeed it works great! Good job, Matt!
Awesome tip Matt...THANKS
Wow! Great practical idea and example! Thank you!
This is why I'm subscribed to 731 Woodworks. Thanks for the tip Matt.
Thank you for posting!
Brilliant.
Hope you had a Merry Christmas, thanks for going a little further.
WOW! That was a great, and simple tip! Thanks Matt
Wow! What a cool trick!
Fantastic tip!! Thanks Matt!👍🏻👊🏻
Great tip and jig, Matt. Thanks for the video. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Great tip, thank you!!
Great tip, Matt! Those that say super glue will stay on the saw are just haters. Even if you can't get it off with scraping, Acetone (or fingernail polish remover) will dissolve superglue.
Happy Sunday. Hope you and the Family had a great Christmas
Great video as usual. I’ll get my wood working journey going again thanks to you my woodworking brother.
I believe I've seen you do this before and this video really made it easy to understand! Really cool trick, thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for sharing that idea. It is a very useful tip. Love you videos.
Brilliant!!! Thanks.
What a great tip, thank you for sharing.
Great tip and very detailed instructions thank you...
Yeah. This tip is stellar.
Great tip Matt. Thanks.
Thanks extremely helpful
Good follow-up video to give more detail that your YT Shorts. thanks Matt.
God bless you brother, it’s been fun to watch your business grow! Hope y’all had a great Christmas!
Thank You My Christian Brother! I really needed your Exceptional and helpful video!! God Bless You and Your Family!!
Very useful tip. Thank you.
Absolutely brilliant! Well done sir. Be blessed. Your brother from another mother...
Great explanation! This is easy to understand.
That's a slick trick. Thanks
This is a great tip/jig. I'm going to try it out. Thanks - Dustin
Nice tip! I got that same t-shirt, Zach Williams is one of my faves.
Wonderful tip.
That's a great help! Thanks for sharing the video. A while back I've seen a video with something similar. (I don't remember by whom it was made) But this one seems much easier. I don't have much time for woodworking (nor for watching YT videos on woodworking) but that will change again in a couple of months, I guess.
Thank you!
Great idea and really easy to do. Appreciate it brother.
Love all your videos I'm new to woodworking ive learned a lot of good ideas from your Channel hot glue works good also I hot glued some stop blocks for crown molding on my miter saw it holds the blocks in place really well have to knock them off with a hammer then just a little hot glue cleanup what a razor blade
Dude !! That’s so cool !!! Thanks for the tip !!!
Brilliant!
Thank you that makes those crazy angle manageable👊
Great tip padewan, the force is strong with you
Good stuff!
Really great trick, I will definitely give it a try. Hope you had a great Christmas day
Great tips as always. Glad to see the ME SP plate front and center! 💪🏼 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻 Wishing you and Mrs 731 all the best that 2022 has to offer! Continued blessings and success!

Very clever idea! 👏🙂👍
Man that was a great trick, Thanks brother for another great video.
Cool trick with the CA glue!
Great idea!! I I always try to move the board to match my cut line, which is inaccurate and not safe! Thank you for the content Mighty Matt!
Great 👍 thanks
Nice.... thanks
Dude that’s a awesome tip I have the same saw thanks for that
This is a Game Changer, Thank you so much🤘🏻
Good stuff
That is awesome I didn't know that
Nice!
Thanks
Like that real smart 👊
That’s brilliant. Never saw anyone do that
First time seeing this miter saw technique
Nice-real nice!👌👍😁
Thanks. I'm thinking waxing (and allow full curing) the wings before gluing down the sacrificial board will help proper separation after while still allowing proper adhesion. I'll give it a try next time I need to cut very narrow or very large angles.
Thanks!

Thanks.
That’s a really cool trick, something that I have never tried or even seen. Another way to remove the CA glue should any be left on the saw is to put some acetone on it and let it sit, that will soften or dissolve the glue making it easy to clean up. Thanks for sharing this great tip.
Not bad!👍🏽
Dam. I recently got your plans for the Farmhouse coffee table. I was struggling cutting those angles on those x's wish I seen this earlier. I didn't do horrible but there's gaps on 2
Put painters tape down on both sides and put the glue on that and you won’t have to scrape it off and it will stick as well or better.
Put some painters tape on the base, then put CA glue on the tape and spray activator on the board
Really simple! I AM IMPRESSED. Since most of those cuts will be one-offs, I would probably just make them on the table saw. If I had a regular use for extended angle cuts, it might be worth making a jig emulating this example and just use the saw clamps to hold it in place.
Dude... I could have used that trick a ton of times cutting heels and peaks for trusses and a bunch of other stuff! Thanks
I Can only say that's UNBELIEVABLE! Wow!!! I never think about this method 👌👌👍👍👏👏Thanks for sharing that with us. But if you want to apply super glue on mither saw the next time, it is good to use a piece of carpenter tape then apply super glue on the carpenter tape. Then this would be more convenient to take it off of your miter saw bed instead apply directly on it
ggrreeat vid, man
Thank you for the longer demo. Also, there were no links in the left side of the video for your other videos.

Thanks. Got it fixed at the end of the video.
This is how I get my project fix while I deal with the frustration of realigning my table saw.
It would have been very useful if you had recommended this video 3 days ago so I didn't have to make my cuts freehand with a circular saw. (I got it now so thank you much)
Do you have a video on how to do this on a Craftsman 22" mitre box with saw.
I invented Aluminum Magnets for this process. But who would have any other use for my silly invention of magnets that stick to aluminum. Nice video, well done.
great tp mate Ive always scratched my head trying to cut a bigger angle and ended up doing something dodgy ........so my fingers thank you
After you remove the two pieces of board from the saw, can they be used again - or would it be impossible to get them re-positioned accurately?
I'm still smiling from "Not true, Brown-eyed Sue". Great tip. Makes me think there is another option as well, with board at 90 deg, and anything on miter will produce 90 deg minus what's on miter. In any even, the confusion on the relative adhesion of CA glue on steel vs wood makes me think there is a video of use on glues, cements, and adhesives - there are some technical differences I think in those terms even. So, as a question, what's the best glue for adhering wood to metal?
I would lid like you to show how you cut a 22 degree angle With crown laying flat Miter/compound combo
Matt, if I need to make 67.5° cuts on both sides of a small piece how is this done?
Might be a dumb question, but how does this work for baseboard that should be cut with the trim standing up?
Maybe I missed it in another video but I thought you had a delta cruzer?
So basically in wood working you have to make a jig for everything. Thanks
Most saws come with some sort of fence clamp that could also be used to clamp down the 45* angled pieces
Where do you get your shirts? Love them

How do we do 126 degree cut on a 2x4 that my digital angle finder shows?
My Mums name is Susan, and from now on, whenever she calls me "lazy" I'm just going to reply "not truue brown eyed Suuue!" and in the EXACT same tone you said it in, there could be...repercussions of coarse? but It'll be worth it😎.
This is a great tip. I think I'll try it...but was wondering once I have it glued and cut at 45 degrees, I wonder if I could then drill down through it and saw, and then just tap the holes in the saw so I can just bolt it in (keep the two parts as a jig that I can reinstall just using two bolts any time I need to use it instead of remaking the jig each time). Do you think that would work?
@731Woodworks
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I wouldn’t drill mine.
0 is 90 DeWalt used to have a double miter scale on their saws with the secondary scale showing 0 as 90 and all the other primary angles as well. For some reason they did at with it some 15 years ago, it was very useful, I was sad to see it go. Funny note 45°was always 45°
Acetone removes CA glue. The cabinet maker who installed my crown mouldings dropped CA glue on the ground and then walked over my new hardwood floors with glue on the bottom of his boots. Acetone cleaned it right up!
Did you get rid of the Delta Cruzer ?
@davidcorliss

Months ago he gave it away to a local friend
Could you use the masking tape trick with the super glue to make cleaning the miter saw bed easier? Or does the tape not stick well enough to the saw bed?
@731Woodworks
2 жыл бұрын
I've not tried the masking tape.
Acetone (nail polish remover) will clean up the CA glue for you.
I have dog hole clamps on my miter saw that allows me to clamp down the "jig". Many of you might have that feature too?
