I made five birds today using your method. It works great! I scaled them up about 50% to make the bandsaw work easier for me. They will be presents for my kids for Christmas… maybe a nice tree ornament? Thanks for the cool idea!

Simple, yet captivating. I definitely want to have a go at these - taping the pieces together tops trying to hold it all with soft fingers or using nails.

That's cool you just made my day. I recommend using an 1/8 inch blade and take it slow on the tight curves. If you post pictures of your results online please send me a link.

I’ve never tried tape but hot glue works to stick the pieces together

Could you give us the dimensions of the squares that make your octagon. Not so much the dimension of the wood but just. Approximately what size are the squares.

Ha ha thanks, I used a two inch sanding pad from Amazon, it came with loads of different grits too.
