some people do not understand that entering another country as a tourist means you will be a tourist, not work, spend money there to sustain yourself, and have an insurance or money to pay if you have an accident or whatever happens to you. I know and understand survival, I was a Combat Security Contractor for oil companies and I was in multiple conflict zones and areas with Warlords and militias and had to protect some very remote assets and sometimes with little to no supplies other than our weapons and ammo. The manufacture (which is hard to discover) and sell of counterfeit items is illegal. But the prosecution of such a crime is difficult, especially in a liberal city. So officers have to ask themselves if it is worth their time to take actions on that crime.

The U.S. destroys millions of counterfeit items every year. It's very much a crime here. The vendors selling on the street are often selling replicas in the open- items that look similar to a big brand but don't claim to be real. They sell better quality counterfeits but only once you convince them you aren't LE.

There is a reason why every cartoon from the 90s and early 00s had caricatures of the "guy in trench coat selling rolex watches and other jewelry" appear all the time.

This world is full of people. There is no place to go and just rely on one's own resources without any to start with, like camping gear or something. Expecting to make your way through life by paying with a kind smile has no lasting power.

I worked with a guy who'd go to the Philippines and buy fake Polo shirts. He'd bring them back to the US and sell them on eBay.

Look, i don't know the rules or how to apply for an Australian Visa for Americans. Meanwhile Indonesian needed to provide work contract, three months of salary slip, property certificate, bank account, etc and still the Australian Embassy rejected our Visa!
