thanks for this vid. Just bought this beast of a lens

The nice thing is that you can also save multiple profiles so you can go back to specific settings you prefer for more general purpose shooting or for more specific genres. You do have to connect to the laptop to choose which profile to download to the lens but it takes seconds and I haven't found it to be a problem. The future of lenses, for sure. Smart glass? I'll take it!

This is a great video and a great app and I hope this is the future for all lenses (well, done Tamron, well done). Perhaps in the future, there will be a phone-app version with Bluetooth so we could change all the settings on the fly. How cool would that be!

I've changed from Fuji to Sony and i'm used to aperture being set on the lens. this is awesome as i can now use the same workflow i have used for years in my new Sony. thanks!

Pretty much all Sony lenses and sigma lenses for Sony also have aperture ring. Just Tamron that doesn’t.

I just got this and connected it and was confused on how to configure this and this video helped a lot. Thanks. I have a Sigma Art 24 70 2.8 but after getting this lens I am thinking of giving up my Sigma as it is not any lighter than this Tamron.

Very Good video but I have a question, how do I customize the other two buttons on the lens?...... Imdont see a option in the camera menu nor in the computer app!😬

Thanks for diving into the Utility Software! I’ll have to try this out. Question for you…I saw your 50mm 1.2 lens review. If you had to go with one of these lenses only for what you do, which would you go for? I went with the 35-150 for the wedding/birthdays/portraits I do often solo.

Tough call. They are both awesome. But the 35-150 will be way more useful

I'm trying to use the focus pereset / A2B, but it does it in an instant regaerdless what seconds I put in (I have newest firmaware, and it is in seconds, not in the slow / fast setting you have)

Hey I’m having a weird problem here, the camera kinda don’t recognise the lens, my godox v1 won’t fire while I use the lens and on Lightroom I need to hand select the lens and make on the corrections tab, and I have a weird vignette when I go from 50 to 75mm has anyone had the same problem? My lens is the 28-75 g2

Great video! Can the focus ring customize to control the ISO instead of the aperture? As a handheld videographer that would be more convenient to be able to control the iso on the ring instead of pressing buttons on the camera when you have your aperture locked in wide open.

After wasting nearly an hour of time I found that I was missing the Silicon labs driver. Now it works!

Anyone know if you can use any USB C cable or the one that comes with the lens?

Thank you lee!... Quick question.. for one all around lens for the A7IV, which lens of these two would you recommend, Tamron 28-75mm G2 or Sigma 24-70mm. For photo and video those extra 4mm makes a big difference? Thank you Thank you!

In my opinion there is huge difference in 28mm vs 24mm in terms of wide-ness. There is less of difference between 70mm vs 75mm on the tele part.

Great video many thanks. I was struggling with the Tamron support pages for Lens Utility, as they are awful. One problem though is that you raced through the bit I really need help with: "Assign function from the camera". I want to set it to the Eye focus option. Where do I even start to do that?

As far as I know. You would do that from the camera customizable buttons option in the yellow menu

Question, the 3 buttons, you very quickly covered that IT (singular) could be customized as focus hold. So is it functionally just one button but with three physical buttons to adapt to different hand hold positions, or is it 3 individual buttons that can all be customized for 3 separate functions ? The Tamron site was unclear about that also.

As far as I can remember it’s all the same button. It’s just for holding different positions

Can you offer any advice for updating an older Tamron lens that doesnt have the USB-C port on the lens itself? I am desperately trying to update firmware for Tamron SP 15-30 f2.8 Di VC USD (A012), my camera is an Canon Eos R with Ef-adapter, the tamron lens utility wont recognize the lens, i have tried 8 different USB A to USB-C cables, from which several i KNOW to have data transfering capabilities. Also on the picture for ''Lens firmware update'' in the software there is a cable connected directly to the lens, so i am hesitant to order Tamrons own expensive USB-A to usb-C cable if it nontheless wont work for me. Any advice?

I've used so many cables, but it's not connecting to my M1 Max. I keep getting the "lens connection FAILED" error. How did you manage to do it? What cable are you using?

There is an android app as well. But still not as fast as if the configuration was in the lens

I can't get the Tamron software to connect to my 350-150 on a M1 chip mac. Anyone figure this out or just found and older mac or PC? thanks

I just got mine and I'm having the same issue with my MACBOOK PRO Intel Core i9. I've tried many cables from USB-C to Thunderbolt Etc... none of them work. I send an email to Tamron and what they say is to send back the lens, but like damn I just got it. The other option they giving me is to buy a Tamron cable directly from them for almost $20.00. The only Weird part is that the guy with my case told me to send him the card number and the info to make the purchase. I don't know what to do...

Do you think the usb port on the lens is a true weathersealed port ? I’m’concerned by this

Would be nice if they developed a phone app for this. Then you'd just have to carry a small usbc to usbc cable.

Why does this p.o.s. have 2 control rings on the lense, but one of them is set to zoom (naturally) and the other is blank? Set to nothing, instead of the obvious defailt of being set to Aperture.

The default is manual focus when you switch from af to mf. Every single lens has a focus ring. But with the switch you can customization it can be aperture
