Customizing the Morakniv 106 & 105 - birchbark sheath + carved & painted handle
I skipped last weeks uploading because of a small vacation with my family + I needed af few days off. Being fulltime craftsman is a hard job. But here it is.. I've been waiting to make and post this video for a long time.
The editing crashed during this video and 4 hours of work disappeared.. So everything might been edited a bit too fast.. Bare over this please.. :D
Take care all! Keep making, crafting and carving!

Thank you For sharing this , we just made this sheath with my son , it looks great and smells amazing , we added some olive oil on the blade to make it easy to slide and protect from rust.

Thanks for sharing this Johas :) I've not made many sheaths and the ones I did were not all as tight as I'd like them to be so I simply slid some longish wood chips into the finished sheath to create more retention, works. However I'd like to have another go with pine root as binding material as you did here.

Oh, you should buddy! It's so fun and pleasing. Plastic sheaths are so boring! :) The pineroot makes is look even more nice!

Hi Jonas, this is brilliant. I once watched Rune Malte Bertram-Nielsen making a birch bark axe sheath and got addicted to this. A good friend of mine just made me a Mora 106 blade with reindeer horn. It fits perfectly and carving is endless fun now. My first idea was to sew a leather sheet but I am not really satisfied with that. Birch bark also may be fine for chisel sheaths I carry to vking markets. Here in Northern Germany we also have a lot of birch and pine / spruce.

Thank you very much Green Spirit! :) Oh yeah, Rune is such a cool and nice guy. I've met him a few times here in Denmark. Birchbark and roots are so damn great for so many tools. Rock on and keep making :) Tschöss!

Looks great. I got some birch recently so I’ll give the sheath a try. What was that tiny knife you used to engrave the handle? Where did you get it? Thanks 🙏🏻
