@@Theyoufeelme Probably so but there are also 8 second daily driver combo for these cars and they still pull decent MPG if you stay out of boost. My Dad had one he had built and finally sold a few years back. Biggest issue is stock electronics holding it back.. they really need a FAST or some other EFI controller to get the most out of them. The 1987 computer is to slow and has issues.

Let the BS of the bad customers are detractors slide. Take plenty of pictures and make a log Enjoy your path. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and go sit in the middle of my shop trying to chase some of the memories and remember the struggles that happened along the way trying to recapture some of the magic Took some time off from touching customer cars and am JUST starting to do some stuff for legacy customers but most of all, working on my own stuff having spent decades being to tired or bored to touch my own collection Congrats

    2 жыл бұрын

Welll...I was 18 when the GN came along, and it was a unicorn. It was weird (V6 turbo? WTF?) and wonderful (fast.) But at the time, there were fast American cars everywhere, in particular the Mustang GT (and the great LX notchback 5.0) along with the GM F-bodies, and even the GN's little brother, the turbo Regal. But at that time, turbos were NOT cool with the 'merican car club boys. Too euro, too Asian. The Mustang SVO was uber-cool, but no V8 meant nothin but hate. In this mix, the GN was a low volume oddball only true enthusiasts recognized. It by no means represented a return of 'merican muscle. Just a neat experiment GM signed off on. In fact, I knew "poor kids" that drove new Monte Carlo SS's who thought they were the shit and had no clue those monotone black Buicks were king of the hill. I drove a Grand Prix but did always prefer the Regal looks. Interesting to think what might have been if Pontiac got the GN treatment.

I got this granny Buick Century for $1,500 back in 1990, only 4,000 miles on the clock. Just needed new tires and alignment, and off I went, for the next 7 years of ownership! Took it up to college with me, loaded five college buddies in it and we went off campus, to the mall etc. That Century and the car in this video would be considered large sedans nowadays, and something to treasure! I grew up in the 80’s that velour interior wears down quick…I would use the same colors but have it custom leather…

Back in the day. North side of Milwaukee all the G bodies used to go hard at the races. I remember the turbo Honda’s and the turbo G bodies always going at it.

I'm so glad I got to drive an 87 GN. This car is the reason I drive a 2016 F165. (F150 with the 2.7 ecoboost 165 cuin twin turbo v6). My truck even sound like a GN sometimes.

Several years ago I spotted what looked like a GNX, in mint condition. It was quite badass, & sounded absolutely amazing. The fella said he paid $88K for it, which seemed like a steal, considering how few of them were made. But, it had a landau top. Homie got played BIG time!

Man, I never knew about the Buick Grand National until I saw it on an episode of Junkyard Digs. You ought to hook up with him and do some episodes on the BGN's. He would geek out hardcore on these. Of course, he would beg to own one lol...

When I got mine brand new It ran great! Then 4 months later it had a bad torque converter. my dealer sent the car out to a local transmission shop and I ended up with a lousy stock transmission that didn't chirp rubber any more. Then It started breaking up at high rpm. I left it with him for a month and he couldn't figure out how to fix it so I took it with him saying I shouldn't! Gave him the middle finger and went to another dealer. They fixed it the same day with a new distributor coil cap. Ran good again. They got me a new GN trans too all free! Ran it with High octane aircraft fuel and 21lbs of boost and slicks beating everything on the street I could find till someone stole it from me.
