I drove a beer truck during the week and delivered auto parts on the weekend. I also take care of anyone that delivers, picks up, waits on my table. I learned that from my old man, who was a cement mason. Any Union tradesmen who did work on our house always got a half gallon of Canadian Club, something to eat, a few bucks. Never had to worry about something breaking down at night or on the weekends. And he did a lot of work for cops, lawyers, politicians. NEVER had a problem with stuff getting done. I'm sure drivers are glad to see your name pop up on a delivery and that's a win-win situation for all involved. Cheers.

It's nice how you ask permission to record on the customer's property. Also that you're up front with the customer where you can and cannot place the items you're delivering. They may not like what they're told, but you're honest with them.

At my other weekend job I actually drove from Indianapolis to Fort Wayne, Indiana for a delivery and found one of their employees left the company pick up truck in the loading dock....the only dock. The company actually had the balls to ask me to unload and stack 6 full pallets of engine parts, batteries.....then I asked them who would be responsible for anything stolen after I left ? A bit late to the party, but a friend of mine in IT would go to peoples' offices to repair/upgrade their peecees. Adding RAM, swapping disks, swapping cards, etc. He's very clear with them to completely clear their desks and stuff on the peecee itself, and like 95% of the people were okay with that, but there was always that 5% who insisted "I'm not a maid!" and would leave their crap all over. He'd come in, see the mess, turn around and go back out, stating the area wasn't workable. They'd piss'n'moan, but he'd still refuse until someone with supreme attitude insisted, so all he did was take all their stacks of paper, put them in loose piles on the floor. All their pictures, knickknacks, *everything*, in one pile on the floor. He'd do the peecee, then leave. They'd flip out for "making a mess" and then worse, "not putting everything back as he found it", and he'd just reply back, "I'm not a maid". Some people really suck.

He's always been a healthy guy who took care of himself, didn't smoke or drink. But know he's retired and has arthritis in his hands and forearms so bad he can hardly fish or golf. His last 12 years he got out of the truck and was the dock foreman. Like you said, after cell phones became a staple the job got much harder. He had to take bp meds to pass the physicals because driving locally in Memphis had his body in constant crisis mode. Memphis is the driving in a mariocart game, these people do not care about their life. Anyways it's a great career but like any trade, you're going to be spending some of your retirement on your body you put through hell for 30 years. @@deborahcooper5792 maybe instead of getting out of his truck and instantly complaining like a bitch, just ask them to move their car. People who do the bare minimum are trash, if everyone acted like that nothing would get done. You aren’t entitled to shit, you get paid to do a job do it well! Idk how you can call yourself a man and act like this haha would hate to work with someone complaining all the time.
