How do you not have an idea of what you're delivering? You don't have a BOL? I worked a lumber yard for years, and the haulers had a pretty good idea of what was delivered.

I understand that there was some kind of miscommunication but damn dude! That shit was so unnecessary. No need for the customer to act like that. Just be an adult and figure it the hell out!

I drove over the road in the mid 1980s and I encountered customers like this one, both shippers receivers. I was in Houston and picking up a load from a Target store that was going back to their warehouse. I was on the dock watching the workers loading my trailer when I saw them loading a pallet of motor oil on which one of the cases was crushed. The whole pallet was soaked with oil, so I asked as nicely as I could for them to take the pallet off. The distribution center wouldn’t accept damaged goods and my company would be responsible for the cost of the product. They refused to unload the pallet and I refused to sign the bill of lading. After calling my dispatcher and waiting approximately two hours they ended up taking off the oil soaked pallet. Life is hard enough as it is without having to deal with assholes like that.

No common sense in arguing, should work together to get it resolved! Driver was a little to assertive and anxious just to just drop it off and go! Customer panicked and argued with ego as well! It’s a shame you can’t get along, either of you…. 😢

I did this job for a while. After the first month I learned to not unstrap the load until I talked to the customer. My strict orders were curbside delivery, nothing else.

I believe EVERY PERSON should have to work with THE PUBLIC for 1 year! Then if they become rude to people, they have to work an additional year! Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!! BE NICE!!!!!

He knew good and well that 16' lumber was not going to fit through the gate on your forklift. He expected you to set it down and unbundle it, and you, the driver, to hand carry it and stack it where he wanted. No, you drive the truck. If he wanted it hand carried he should have had workers there for that.

This guy neglected to read the fine print on the delivery order. I've never received the lumber and/or concrete mix that was dropped at any location other than curbside. If he wants the material placed somewhere else, he should have made other arrangements. Does he want the driver to do the building project for him also?

From my history, most drivers have been very helpful in as much as having brought loads in past the curb to prevent possibilities of theft or damage. That builder was just on a power trip.
