A clean simple custom, that everyone can do with a bit of time and patience and if done right it will look just as perfect as this. Great video 👍🏾

I like this, but went with the Chicago mid bred toe and painted the black part of the toe white. Definitely saved a few bucks on materials too.

Watching you do this without tape was the scariest and most satisfying thing I’ve ever seen

I failed to pull the trigger on some 1.5 Chicago’s and I was on a sneaker break the years any Chicago 1s dropped so now all the shoes are like $600+.. seeing great videos from you make me have hope now to just mess with mids and do the custom job.

Color matching is on point 🥶 you should do like a royal, pine green union custom 👀

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT do the last step applying the matte clear. It will darken the red and make the heel shinier than the rest of the shoe. Wish I would have skipped that step as they would have turned out perfect. Also not covered is the fact it takes 5 coats to get an even color. I ended up only using two brushes and it came out near perfect. I also taped off the shoe to protect it. All it takes is one drop of dye or a smudge of paint on your palm to ruin the whole project.

Use a good shoe safe tape unless you have nerves of steel like this guy. Makes a mistake far less likely to happen. Amazing job on these shoes.

@@711Slurpies buy at least one pair of cheap white nike leather shoes and start on them. When you feel confortable do it on your jordans. Dont ever do it the first time on a expensive sneaker

Thanks for the guide. The color is spot on. After i put on the matte finisher, it doesn’t look matte, and little glossy. did you add duller on the matte finisher?

Yes, add a bit of duller to the matte. I used a 80 Matte 20 Duller ratio, though most tutorials say 90/10 to avoid a potentially chalky finish

Angelus Paint told me to use 85% Varsity Red and 15% Red (NOT Fire Red) to match Gym Red.

Question for you, I want to paint my Michigan 5’s from that dull yellow to an orange or burnt orange. The shoe is nubuck, should I dye it or use gac 900 on that material. And if I dye it? I would have to mix dyes I believe. Any suggestions?? Thank you for your time

I’m not sure why they did the white heel, it isn’t awful but it definitely looks better this way. They did something weird with the Bred mids too with the eyelets kinda like they are afraid to give the mids the actual colorway 😂😂 Love your customs keep it up 🙌

If they had the exact same colour blocking on the mids they would just be an alternative to the highs that’s 50 dollars cheaper, so the highs would lose some popularity

@@theguy-8548 Yeah I can sort of see that, there will always be people that prefer the high’s and will always take them over the mids I don’t think they’d lose popularity being the most iconic Jordan 1 but they probably would lower in price a bit

I just ordered the tags and I’m going all the way with it. I have a lot of Jordan one highs honestly I’m a little on the shorter side and depending on the cut, they can sometimes be uncomfortable as the very top of the shoe can be too high up on my calf. I’m on the lookout for a decent pair of the Jordan 1.5 Chicago, but until then I’m gonna be messing around with these mids

Where can you find people to do this to your shoe like a workshop or something???

Idid about 80/20. Looks great. Easy. Add couple drops of duller to red and to matte finish.

제가 본 영상중에서 갑인것같습니다.. ㄷㄷ👍 질문이 있는데요!! 1. 디글레이저로 코팅 지우고 몇시간 뒤에 레더다이를 바르는지, 2. 레더다이 바르고 몇시간뒤에 1차 도포 하시는지 3. 1차 도포후 몇시간 뒤에 2차도포 하시는지 4. 2차도포후 몇시간 뒤에 매트 피니셔 바르시는지 5. 매트피니셔는 어느정도 지나야 완벽히 마르는지 완전 커스텀 한번도 안해본 쌩 초짜라서...완전 기본적인것도 몰라서 질문드려요ㅠㅠ 여기저기 검색해서 알 수 있을법한 질문이긴한데.... 영상 속 같은 신발 커스텀 도전이고 꼭 님한테 들어야 확신이 들것같아서요^^;;

1. 디글레이저로 코팅을 지우고 디글레이저가 마르면 바로 레더다이 작업을 하셔도 되세요. 다만 레더다이는 다른 가죽이나 미드솔에 묻으면 절대 안 지워지기 때문에 엄청 신중하게 작업하셔야 하세요. 처음 작업하시는 거라면 굳이 레더다이는 안 하시고 그냥 레더페인트로만 작업하셔도 괜찮으세요. 2. 레더다이를 바르고 최소한 1~2시간정도는 말려주고 도포하시는게 안전하세요. 3,4 저 색상을 정확하게 표현하려면 아마 4~5정도 아주 얇게 여러겹 도포하셔야 하시고, 말리는 간격은 30분 정도면 괜찮으실거예요. 5. 매트피니셔를 바르고 말리는건 하루정도면 충분히 마르는데, 페인트를 도색하고 바로 신으시면 아직 페인트가 가죽에 침착이 안된 상태라 어느정도 가죽에 페인트를 건조시키는 시간이 필요하세요.(최소 일주일) -

Technically the mids are a real Chicago. Jordan himself played in the mids which was his preference over the highs. The reason it went unnoticed was because they were exclusive to him.

아! 레더다이 작업할때 미드솔 부분에 묻으시면 지우기가 엄청 힘들 것예요. 시간이 좀 지나면 침착되버려서 더 힘들어요. 제가 생각할땐 레더다이 리듀서나 아세톤으로 최대한 지우시고, 흰색 페인트를 올리시는게 좋을 것 같아요. 확실히 지우시지 않으시면 레더다이가 페인트를 뚫고 올라와서 진짜 확실히 지우셔야 할 거예요.

@Volt.66 Studio Can you help me? From what I saw in your video I bought the "Jordan 1 UNC to CHICAGO" to customize like the "Jordan 1 Bred". I would like to know Why you did not use the red dye on that blue leather but you do it on this white leather now? Can you tell me what red color to use to paint the heel as same color as the toe box (without to have to paint the toe box again)? Thanks. I love your channel!

If you dye unc to chicago blue with red, you will get purple. That's why I don't dye red there. Because that's what I do to solve crack's problems. Recently, I've been mixing color bred color (Red70% + varsity red 30%). Paint only one coat on the toebox and 5 to 6 coats on the heel.

If you dye unc to chicago blue red, Can purple make you need a few less coats of red? I may be obsessing over the dye. Thanks for your time and consideration.

@@OverthinkerYT I'm not sure about that. But the most important thing when customizing unc to chicago is to paint as thin as possible. And dry the paint long enough(maybe 10~14days). That way, the durability will increase a lot.

@@볼트 I have continued researching on the subject of paint or dye and I think that paint should not be used in this case. It is true that the dye has color limitations, but I have found a brand called TARRAGO curiously from my country that sells a type of dye with "high hiding power" (we will see) that eliminates the color limitations of normal dyes. From what I have seen it has quality products so I will try with this brand and when I finish I will write to confirm or deny its effectiveness.
