I've watched many vids on chuck boxes...yours is the best I've seen by quite a margin ! I like that yours doesn't try to be a table... I think that's where other people go wrong. Love all the equipment too...well thought out, and it really shows ! 👍 All the best....

I2 people's stuff fits in that tiny box, amazing! Like Mary Poppins' bag, more and more comes out of it. The restaurant steel bin makes a great sink! Very nice setup. Good idea about the tarp for morning dew condensation. I forgot about that, its been a while since I tent camped. Love all the gear you have, very useful and nothing unnecessary. I get the feeling that you know what you are doing in all things, and well prepared. Very inspiring to see your organization and method. Looking good too. Bravo on being fit despite being a family man. That is a challenge when you work long hours and do home chores too. Your daughters did an artistic job of sticker painting, 😄. Enjoy your children, and thank you for an enjoyable demo!

Wow! I'm very impressed with this. There's definitely alot in that box. I am trying to figure out how to design a box myself. Bcuz I too want to travel with a large amount of supplies. Wow. You fit an amazing amount of kitchen in such a compact space. Love the deli tray idea. I wish I had seen this a week ago before l ordered a collapsible sink. Great video too. You showed and explained everything well, and kept it very concise.

I thought the same thing, ha ha! No worries, use the collapsible bin as a drying rack or waste tank or veggie rinse tank. You cannot go wrong with anything collapsible!

To me, the nicest thing about the stainless steel restaurant pan is you can use it for it's intended purpose! You can make 20 pancakes and bacon and stash it all in there, with a towel around it, and keep it warm so you can serve all at once. But definitely multi-purpose. Super nice job. Especially for canoeing, the thing about these boxes is where you draw the line between kitchen stuff and general camping stuff . Like tarps, lanterns cords, stakes, etc. Also, with some food-like items in there, now you have to think... Maybe some of that stuff should not be there overnight but should go into the tree food bag. These have a tendency to get too big and heavy but you've done a great job at keeping it compact and using every square inch.

Blackdogbite, thanks for watching and commenting. Great suggestion on the pan. I hadn't thought about that but you are right, it also works well for it's intended purpose. At first I wanted to build something that would hold the kitchen and camping stuff and some food but it was going to be way too big and heavy so I carry food in other containers. This box is pretty heavy. Good for car or canoe camping.

Love the pail trick for plates.

You must be my camp brother from another mother. Nearly everything you pack in that box is what I pack in my box, and what I don't I've put on the list to add, specifically the half tray for exactly your stated reasons. However, I have mine in a smaller plastic bin which makes grabbing anything an excavation and stowing an anger inducing Tetris game. This is brilliant! Great work! Clever design! Kudos to your daughters' design sense!

Ben, thanks for watching and for the kind words. You know what they say, great minds think alike. I used to keep all of this in a plastic bin also and grew tired of the excavation and Tetris game issues that you so aptly pointed out. Those issues were the biggest reason I built this box.

Just decided to make a chuckbox to help consolidate space in my Shasta Compact. I gutted her kitchen to make more space and love outdoor cooking. Thanks for the great ideas.

I really like the ideas you used for your chuck box. Using the metal pans is a fantastic idea. I’ve been looking for a silverware caddy FOREVER! I suppose I should check out the fishing department at Bass Pro! I don’t need to carry stuff for 12 people so I imagine I can make my box a little smaller. Thank you for sharing!

Finally a sensible solution to this concept! WELL DONE. All you need for the outdoors with no unnecessary junk and doodads without trying to provide all the comforts of staying at home. If you were only needing to cater for say two people instead of 12 it would be able to be scaled down in size much further.

@@wanderbynature2508 No offence intended. I thought that your solution was the best that I had seen. Many of the other versions appear to be exercises in self promotion and demonstrating just how clever the author is at making videos. They generally lack craftmanship, thought, practicability and intellect. Yours is not one of those. I really enjoyed your effort and if I was not so old I would be using many of your ideas and doing the same. Unfortunately many of today's technological advantages like plastic bags and bottles did not exist in my day, Today I just sit back in my rocking chair and am very envious and jealous of what things are today. Through the electronic media I am able to still enjoy life and admire lots of adventures that younger people are able to do. Thanks for your efforts.

Very nice, that's a lot of capability built into a small box. It seems like it would work well in practice also ( meaning some people have boxes stuffed so tightly it'd be a nightmare to pack/unpack on a trip).

KingintheNorth, thanks for watching and for commenting. You are right, it is fairly easy to pack and unpack as long as I remember exactly how things go in. Making is easy to use was my primary goal. I was tired of digging through a disorganized mess and never getting everything back in just right during a camping trip.

@@wanderbynature2508 should it be necessary for us to pack up and head for higher ground (It was when we lived in South East Texas) ours was first in the trunk then our food box, Important papers, cloths, toys for the kidlings. next came the boat fishing and camping gear in the boat. wife with a few hundred dollars in her purse, kids and dog in the back seat and Toledo bend here we come... When she passed over we went home and picked up...

Love this. Given me a lot of ideas. What wood is this made out of? And did you do anything special for the joins?

RobW W, thanks for watching and commenting. The box is made of 15/32" (basically 1/2") plywood. I used glue and 18 gauge nails on the joints. I finished the outside with several coats of water-based polyurethane. Good luck with your build.

They are GSI Bugaboo pots and pans. They are a nested set with plates, bowls, cups, sporks, spices, cooking utensils, etc. nestled inside.

My pot and pen set up is based on the GSI Outdoors Bugaboo Camper 4 Person Camping Cook Set. However, since I already had a 4qt and 3qt cook pots, I bought the GSI Outdoors Infinity 4 Person Compact Nesting Tableset which comes without the pots. My cookpots are a little bigger than what comes with the camper set so I can a little more in the pots but where you can really put a lot of stuff is in the cups. I keep 2 backpacking stove with stove stands and propane adapters, salt and pepper shakers, lighter, matches, small container of dishwashing liquid, small scrub pad, small container for cooking oil, and pot handle spread through the 4 cups in the set. You can find both on Amazon.

Really like this I copied it to fit my needs

What is the total weight of your chuck box? There is alot of portaging on conoe trips here in Minnesota

I haven't weighed it but I would guess between 50-60 pounds. I personally would never think of using this if I had to portage. Works great on a lazy river with no portaging or car camping but not in a situation where you have to carry it for any distance.

Coppeis, thanks for watching. I just went to websites and looked for the "Contact" link and just sent an email with a request for stickers. I did explain why I wanted them. In a few cases, the website actually had a link to request stickers. Some companies will send you stickers, some will ask you to send them a self addressed, stamped envelope, some will tell you that they don't give away stickers, and some companies will not reply at all. For companies that did not give me stickers, Ebay was a good resource for finding stickers if you want to buy them.

Well, I don't know the exact weight but I can tell you it isn't light. I can move it in and out of my truck or a canoe by myself but it isn't easy and, to be honest, it's better using 2 people to move it around.

The stickers bother me a bit, my personal rule is I don't display a company's logo unless they pay me to. I don't mean to imply that your wrong or that there's a reason you should follow my rule, it just bothers me. I do get the covered in stickers aesthetic though, I'd probably make my own from photos of the places i've been, or the people I was there with. Signatures of fellow campers is another way to go.
