The Gerber pot set is okay. I personally use a $25 set from Walmart. Stainless steel as well. 2 pots, a skillet, lids for all, 4 cups, 4 lids for the cups, 4 sporks, and 4 plates. Hard to beat all that especially for $25. I'm on year 4 with them still holding up great.

Magnetic = works with induction As far as the gear when I go out I bring a cast iron pan ~ 12”, bbq style tongs, spatula and kitchen spoons, a strainer/mixing bowl combo and one non stick kitchen pot. Pot sets in pan, utensils set + knifes in a chefs style knife roll and bowls set in pot. Fits in a 16” tupperware and I bring a 2 burner camp chef with a convertible griddle thing and a 20lb propane bottle. Overall it works well for my gladiator for camping or tailgating

I really like the Sea To Summit camp gear, they do a few pot sizes and then bowls/plates that fit inside. The bowls & plates clean really easy with just water or a bit of kitchen roll. The Sigma pan I have has a swivel/lock handle and metal lid and works on my portable Induction cook top, they also do a collapsable range of bowls, plates, mugs and a pan and silicone 'kettle' with metal base and super lightweight polycarbonate or titanium cutlery. I have a couple of the Delta 2 person sets of the rigid bowls and plates in my campervan - they nest within each other really well and take up very little room - if you buy them as a set they come in a net bag. The mugs come in different sizes, some with neoprene jackets and lids, they are grippy, so great for kids or people with a weaker grip. They also do a small neat Camp kitchen kit that can hang on your door with washup brush, bottles for oils, foldable cooking utensils and a microfibre dish cloth and quick dry tea towel. Other products include a folding sink, which is made of fabric, so tiny. Most of the gear is aimed at hikers, so very lightweight, but also durable. They also have heaps of other outdoor gear, always good quality - one of my favourites is the Pocket (solar) Shower. Worth a look at their gear, new cook ware range Detour and dinnerware Passage have just been launched.

That would have been a nice kitchen kit for my family of 5 car/tent camping in a station wagon cross country kit. I have a Stanley stainless steel 1L pot with lid, 2 soup bowls & a couple of sporks. It is fine, but I had to locate a good nonstick 8” skillet separately.

I go backpacking so compact stuff is a must. I've found that fozzils bowls are awesome and super compact. You can use them as a plate and cutting board too. They also have wash basins. I use a folding fillet knife from outdoor edge as my everything cooking knife. I've also have a GSI Outdoors Bugaboo aluminum cook set with a removable handle. Sea to Summit also makes a good collapsible cooking pot that doesn't take up much space. I actually use the gerber utinsils cause you can use them as tongs too.

I feel seen, I solo car camp and bring nearly everything lol. Since I bought a Crosstrek and will be sleeping in it when camping I forced myself to minimize, so stuff like nesting pots and pans, etc. One thing that has come in super handy is using a plastic Plano tool box to put nearly all my cooking supplies into. Lightweight, has a handle, tray holds cutlery, knives, etc. A cheap solution that does the job well. I don’t need the Gerber board and knife set but it sure looks great. 👍

The thing you didn't know about on the Gerber spork looked like a can opener for cans of liquid like tomato juice. The "thumb" goes on the edge of the can and the triangle is used to punch into the can which allows you to pour out the liquid. It is like the triangle end of a bottle opener. The rounded end is for the bottle cap and the triangle end is for a can.

From watching a wide array of overlanding videos from MANY You Tubers I am way outside the peak of the bell curve. I have always looked at Overlanding as just an extension of my backpacking using a JT rather than my legs and back to cover MANY more miles of adventure. More power to everyone who invests big $ in all their equipment. I'm sure they're more comfortable than I am . I've been able to use the same equipment for two of my passions and use all that unspent extra $$ to pay for trips. We all adventure in our own ways and kudos to everyone that follow their passion. YOLO.

people get full sized kits for a family of 4 when single. you can get tiny kits for single people. good sandwich makers are great for mini griddles. one cup for mixing or drinking, one boilers, steak knife and a paring, wood spoon, wood plate can double as a cutting board or bread mixer. etc. i was always told to remember when single, your food should be about the size of your hand. so if you think about it you do not need much to pack in and out. simple snack meals and dehydraded food requires less work. most only need food for 3 days 9 meals with snacks or 9 hand sized meals.

OMG. The same problem. I pretty much need an intervention. But in all seriousness, the overpacking is starting to kill the joy. It makes everything feel like such a chore and I rarely have more than 3-4 days to spend. When the effort is so much compared to the short time of reward, you start talking yourself out of just GOING. Car is getting turned into bug out vehicle for the summer, and I MUST MUST pare down.

I like the pot set. Looks quality. It's looks about the same size as the JetBoil Genesis Basecamp? Like you, I don't know that I need to carry around four of everything. If I am cooking for myself and the wife and another couple, it would be handy? Too expensive to buy just to use a few items. A solo version makes "ComplEAT" sense. (see what I did there?) That cutting board set is a no-go. Unless you always leave the dirty side out and only cut on the other. Please don't fling the grease in the bushes. Pack it out. It only attracts wildlife and isn't good for the outdoors.
