First thing’s first: your hair will either grow “upwards” (towards the ceiling) or “outwards” (away from your scalp). My hair grows upwards. So I don’t Grace that perfect circular Afro look. That said I have a ton of hair so when I actually get my hair taken care of by a chick and fluffed out, it could be hard to tell. To clarify, even the hair on the back of my head grows up towards the ceiling, instead of outwards. So when it was shorter I’d naturally have that “uneven look.” It didn’t bother me but it bothers some ppl. Next up you should rarely pic your hair. Especially true once it grows pass a certain length. Use a pic to gently lift your hair and give a fuller look. Usually. Now if you do want to pic your hair, detangle it in the shower with lots of water and a lot of conditioner. Conditioner makes it slippery. First use your fingers to loosen it up and pull out knots. Separate it by finger as much as possible. -Then section off your hair- use a pic and start at the base of your scalp and slowly pull all the way through to the ends of your hair. Some hair might break off but that’s natural. Ball it up and chuck it out the shower unless you want to clog your drain.

Same happened to me. Usually, I solve this by using a spray bottle on my hair in, and out of the shower, and just raking some leave-in curling conditioner through it. (I use Cantu, but I got 4B hair, so it might, or might not work for you) And for the love of god... Do NOT pick curly hai, unless you want an afro or the starting hair in this video.

You gotta know how to stretch it when it dries to elongate it, and if you use gel to help form the curls, you just gotta break the cast with some oil. Research “how to stretch your wash n go.”
