Cuphead DLC 300% Speedrun

Played on PC.
This run beats the former World Record held by KalaveritaTV by 43 seconds! Very solid run overall with no huge mistakes. Biggest time loss was playing too cautiously on the King Dice gauntlet and losing out on a potential ~30 seconds, but the rest of the run went so well that I can't really complain too much about it. Potential 1:03:XX in the future? Not sure if I will grind for it, but we're close!
Some commonly asked questions:
Q: How are you able to play on Expert without beating the game first?
A: Speedrunners use something called the "Fresh Expert"; glitch for Expert mode categories. Basically, if you have a save file where you've already beaten the game, you access that first and select a boss. On the difficulty select, you put the cursor over "Expert" (no need to actually fight the boss), and then back out and Exit to Title. When you start a new file you will begin the game on Expert.
Q: Why do you fight all of the King Dice minibosses?
A: While they technically don't contribute to file percentage, we decided in the speedrunning community to include them in the 300% category since it fills out the Checklist in the menu. That's also the same reason we require buying all the weapons/charms despite them not contributing to file percentage either; it's just nice looking from a completionist perspective!

If you use the divine / broken relic It gives you bombs even if you haven't unlocked them yet

Idk, my controller is plug and play and I just use default controls in-game, so everything worked fine for me.
Do you need to talk to the guy who gives you the bomb weapon on airplanes? If you're using the relic anyway, then you get the bomb weapon every time you weapon swap, whether you received them or not. Or do you have to talk to him for %?

It’s not required, but I talk to him for minibombs so I can use them during the king dice gauntlet since minibombs make phear lap and the monkey slightly faster.

I have a question Jason!🙂 Will you be able to beyond 💯% complete "Cuphead" by completing all quests/missions and all side quests/side missions and getting all Ss and Ps, all coins, all parries, all achievements and the like and more without dying and getting damaged and even hit even once at all?🙂 I apologize for asking that question, but I needed to ask it to you you know.🙂

I probably could if I dedicated myself to it, but I really don’t like the hitless play style so I don’t think I would want to do that. Playing safe is not really my style.

I don't speedrun so this is probably a dumb question, but why do you have to fight all of King Dice's bosses?

Not a dumb question! It’s just for completionist purposes. It doesn’t technically contribute to the file percentage, but it fills out the “checklist” of bosses that I check at the end of the game. It’s just an arbitrary requirement of the category on speedrun.com
Is the snes controller a stylistic choice for the overlay or do you actually use a snes controller?

I actually use a USB SNES controller. I really like the dpad for it and it has just the right amount of buttons for Cuphead. It’s made by a company called iBuffalo but they’re really hard to come by nowadays because I think they were discontinued.

They move to the left on Regular difficulty, but on Expert they move to the right.

Did no one else notice that the timer kept pausing for little bits at a time? It didn't look like lag?

It’s a load remover. It pauses during loading screens, that way everyone is on an even playing field even if you have a PC that loads slower than others.

I still stream on twitch (though I’m out of town for the next week so won’t be live until sometime next week at the earliest. Twitch.tv/jason2890 I’ve taken a break from this category at the moment though but I’m actively working on Hater% which is an even more difficult category.

iBuffalo USB SNES controller. I don’t think they’re made anymore unfortunately, but I had a few that I bought online years ago that still work nicely.

Yeah, I didn’t hide that I was playing on Expert, lol. It says it in the video description as well. Plus, you can only get 300% playing on Expert.

Full completion (defeating all bosses, collecting all coins/weapons/charms) of both the DLC and base game on Expert mode. Plus uncursing the Divine Relic and fighting all King Dice minibosses.
