So that people dont panic, shampoos are usually alkaline, so don't be afraid of that result, however your leave in conditioner or styling product should be in the weak acidic range. Aloe vera juice (weak acid) in a spray bottle is a perfect liquid to spritz after shampooing your hair or visiting the pool and a better alternative to hard water which is alkaline.

Jay Jee, 1 teaspoon of ACV to 8 oz. of distilled water. I learned this from one of Green Beauty's videos. So far, that combination has been the perfect PH balance for my high porosity hair.

You can definitely use different methods and products to cleanse your scalp and hair that are safer for your hair. First example using a clay mask and diluted apple cider vinegar. I personally do not use a lot of products in my hair and I rarely have build up, using conventional shampoo, even the non sulfate ones. So I dont use "shampoo" but I do cleanse my hair. So that's what people should understand. It is IMPORTANT TO CLEANSE YOUR HAIR AND SCALP REGULARLY.

People tend to listen to the part of the advice they want to hear. A KZreadr says they only shampoo their hair once a month. But people ignore that that KZreadr doesn’t use many products, co-washes weekly and wets it regularly. They just stop washing their hair while dumping everything on their head.

There's just not a lot of research into naturally curly hair For a century most of the funding for research to create products for our hair went into straightening it. You still see that today in cosmetology schools. IMO I think this is why there's so much confusion on shampoos, build up and oils. Because there's hardly any thorough scientific studies on what _truly_ works to keep our curls healthy and beautiful. We're all just experimenting

Thanks for educating me on emulsifiers. I will use less conditioner and wash my hair strands more often RN I'm using a lot of leave in that might be the problem

Last year in October I noticed that my conditioners weren't working on my hair very well....I soon realised I had protein overload. I stopped using protein treatments for a while. My hair reacted normal to conditioners again.

I’m low porosity too and I only do protein treatments 1-2x/year. Every 2months is also a lot. What we low porosities need is moisture, not protein
