My high school band director selected Gloria Estefan tunes every year. As a Cuban-American, this was a big deal. Pride…I never forgot from where my family derived. What a blessing to be born in America decades after my family arrived in America and still being surrounded…embraced by the sounds of a free Cuba. Only in America…preservation of one’s culture, language, and history…enriching the land of freedom. All the while becoming that much more American. Patria y Vida.

i admire Gloria immensely... even when the interviewer wants to focus on 'race' or heritage.. Gloria reminds her what America is all about.. she doesnt have to shun her heritage or culture.. but to recognize what this country once stood for makes me proud

WOW - Maria Elena Salinas is DOING BIG THINGS!!! I remember her on Univision. I remember loving her name. I would walk around the house repeating it. I LEARNED a LOT of SPANISH from her! THANK YOU!!!! So, I'm glad that she is challenging herself and doing new things. CONGRATULATIONS MARIA.

Although Gloria & Emilio did alot for Latin Musicians, don't forget Ritchie Valens and Carlos Santana. They did alot but didn't get the recognition that they so richly deserved. I don't think Ritchie is in the rock & roll hall of fame. Either way they are amazing.
