CSX Worker Tries To Replace Gate Before Amtrak Arrives
Ойын-сауық
This is a video I made in Plant City Florida at the Park Road railroad crossing right after a truck tore a gate off the signal system and a CSX worker racing to install a new crossing gate arm before Amtrak train the Silver Star comes through. Will he make it? Find out and see.

He successfully did it somebody give that CSX work an award because he deserves it
Someone give his man an award. He has limited time to repair this and he took it before nobody got hurt. He has my respect.

I agree 👍 with that
This guy's basic principle is "Just keep banging on it and it will fix itself." LOL great video.

If there's one thing I've learnt through years of DIY vehicle maintenance and other home fixes... if at first the damn thing doesn't work, just keep bashing it with a wrench and 50% of the time it'll eventually spring back into life. Percussive maintenance, it's more than just an amusing pair of words :D Looks like a pretty thankless task he's doing there, even if you do get a snazzy hi-viz sun hat to wear. I think we can forgive him a bit of frustrated hardware abuse.

He was knocking in the shear bolts.
Didn't waste anytime, very well done to the worker.
I wouldn't be able to do it. So much pressure from all the traffic
Indeed worker, be safe! With the gate being damaged weekly, they should install cameras capable of reading license so the trucks doing this can be traced down and forced to pay for the damage they are causing. From the way it stands, the railroad company is paying for parts and time it takes the worker to make the repairs that should be born by the person or their company.

@JuanDia What I was trying to say is the red lights are activating when the CSX worker drops the gate. There is no train coming, and it's confusing to everyone. Another CSX worker should have been on scene assisting with traffic control.

No driver should need his/her hand held when they encounter a traffic signal that directs them to STOP. So what if the gates/lights were activated. When you see them activated...STOP. It's good practice for the real thing.

We have to test the crossing after we replace anything. However, we get called 24/7 365. And you maintain your area alone. So at midnight, you do the job on your own. We will do our best to get you around the gates and keep traffic going
this worker shouldve called in traffic control.

The police should definitely be on scene for this.
Hey Alan, My name is Dan and I am from New Hampshire. I enjoy watching your videos and have to admit sometimes I wish I could come to Florida to join you for some of your video recording sessions. I really loved watching trains where we grew up but really do not see much living in the big city. We do hear them but it just is not the same. Keep up the good work my youtube friend.

One of the toughest jobs a signal maintainer has to do is assemble a new gate under both auto and train traffic. People want to go. LoL
The worker was doing the best they could by themselves among some really impatient people.
Cool video! That's interesting.
I'm a long time subscriber and your content just keeps getting better and better keep it up 😊
I agree. They should put a traffic camera to watch for trucks accidentally damaging the crossing.
Train looks like it got a slow order. Amazing video Alan. Keep up the good work.

Keegan Gidley I was thinking that too. But the person who did the honking could've been at the asshats that stopped in the middle of the intersection. Let's hope that was the case.

Nice. I'm doing Rail Safety Week videos of SunRail coming through Longwood, FL to the Sunrail station. The Previews will be posted this weekend. I'll be recording the Sunrail coming through Longwood, FL for Rail Safety Week from June 6-10. Choo! Choo!
Great video!
Simple fix: Reconfigure the traffic signal preemption to all reds, on all four sides on train approach, until the gates lower, then parallel road gets a limited green signal until the train clears.
Great video😊
Great video
great video
What the hell is wrong with all these drivers? - Crossing with the lights flashing. - Blocking the intersection - etc. What a bunch of a-holes!
hats off to the gate signal repairman😁
Poor guy was by himself? I give him kudos if he was. A job well done. :)
hey millennium, new viewer. i live in plant city and was hoping you could clue me into some good train watching spots? aside from the tower downtown, of course. i am especially interested in freight trains. hope you see this!
Nice Video!
Wow, look at the impatience.
Really nice Millenium Force.
Just my two cents as a broke ass rail fan with no free time: The train definitely knew there was work being done on the signal as it was going somewhat slow. Here on the Union Pacific, there are several rules outside of CGOR 6.32.2(A) which they call "X.H.", meaning the train can proceed at around 35mph but if they notice the signal is malfunctioning, they must stop the train before the intersection. If you are a hardcore railroad person and if I misspeak: I apologize and please correct me. But interesting video! Stay safe!!

Not exactly how it's handled. There are different types of protections when a RR crossing is not functioning as intended. Check out the CFRs.
you can't put a thumbs down he's basically saving lives
very interesting and cool.
Why was traffic not rerouted by traffic control?
Awesome!
Poor guy lmao, everyone's just staring at him
Millenniumforce great video
good work and train
Not a good idea to assume the lights are only flashing because there's someone working on the gate.
Do you think the Human Crossing Gates would have been a help to the worker
Very good video ! I'm surprised that the only thing in the video happened with someone saying hurry up. 4:00
that must've been frustrating lol

Why is CSX not using Traffic Control? When the employee drops the gate to do the repairs, the red lights are flashing and confusing everyone.

Why are you just being stupid?
Mercy sakes, the repeater harness for the gate must have been wired off color code - it took four tries to get the gate lamps in the correct sequence, e.g., the two closest the motor synced to the main wigwag and the end lamp steady-burning.

B. C. Schmerker the gate lights change their pattern based on how the cord in between each light is connected. It’s a guessing game to get it right. One at a time
The Electronic bell sound is low and blinker lights are low. They should get new blinkers.
The only reason you could say he’s “trying to do it before Amtrak” is to clear the XH on the crossing. That’s it. The gate has to be fixed regardless. Amtrak just happened to be the next train
You would think they would have a better way of doing that.

Is railroad crossing gates going down train is coming
I've heard that song somewhere before.....
I would’ve been so embarrassed having to replace the gate in front of the traffic and it’s right by a light too
Worker should of called the local police department for a traffic officer to come out and deal with traffic and also do the workers safety
what would work is a medium signal for the gate

Millenniumforce will you ever be back at this location
The worker fixing the gate is also put at risk by stupid drivers.
That railroad crossing gate keeps screwing up
They should have red light cameras at rr crossings.
Way I see it the problem here is there shouldn't be a grade crossing at all if street and railroad are that close. Drivers coming from the main street won't see if the gates are closed or not unless they are nearly on the tracks. My point is the state DOT should front some money and build an underpass here. There shouldn't be any grade crossings on streets with so much traffic
@illstplaya
7 жыл бұрын
well there are many railroad crossings designed like this around the country so I guess they don't see it as a problem but I don't agree with you. but also the drivers need to be paying attention. they should be able to see the red blinking lights that are pointed in their direction on the main street parallel to the tracks.
@MikMoen

People purposefully ignore the lights if there's nothing physical blocking their path, and then that'll lead to people getting killed instead of broken gates.

Not that I want it to, but it would be a little funny if someone came and hit the other gate right after he finished...

wait why did the truck hit the railroad crssing

Maybe the gate comes down too fast?
Don't you mean photo enforced?
So since he tried to fix it before the train arrived does that mean there was no train passing by the times he was fixing it?🤔🤔🤔

Why is traffic not being detoured during the work? Where are the police to detour traffic?
@napsterbater
7 жыл бұрын
Dan Mark why would they need to be, as long as the gate worked when the train went trough they are good. Railroad has right of way so if they need to stop traffic with the gate down while it's being fixed no big deal. Its the idiot drivers entering the intersection when they can see they can't clear it are the problem.
Alan would you check out my video from the Airshow?
I winder how much money that is costing CSX
There's no reason that work couldn't all be done with the gate up.
