this song makes me think of despair and hopelessness. Having to accept your fate, even though you can't comprehend it until it's too late. "I'll protect you from all the things I've seen" sounds like someone offering help and protection. "And I'll clean your wounds, bless them with saline" is like someone taking care of your scars when you can't, doing what they can to make you feel safe and loved. ohhh man.
