Who are the people that go to this conference? Paying the fee, booking a hotel, flying to Houston. And what goal do the sponsors of this conference have? Is it all about keeping their “investor base” pumped up so that they spread the word about the goodness of web 3.0 and whatever the token de jour is?i really have trouble understanding what this conference is supposed to achieve.

I once thought the biggest lie we were told as children is that adults know how the world works. Now I believe the biggest lie I was told is that adults exist at all. Replace crypto with children talking about Pokemon and the whole thing makes more sense. It's depressing that real consequences exist from all this.

At the end of the day, it's all about self-interests, doesn't matter if it's politicians, cryptobros, landlords, CEOs, office workers etc, self-interests is the prevailing factor.

I can't stop laughing because I'm a former classmate of Erik Voorhees and I knew he has a crypto app founder of some kind... but I didn't realize he had graduated to "get fact checked during a conference" level crypto bro

Oh god, that whole "tokenized identity" talk has me dying inside. They nosedived into the dystopian with that shit! The idea of selling your *_fucking name_* because you're desperate for the dough it brings you is _horrifying._ I realize that they meant _usernames_ and my mind went straight to the extreme, but for me my username is basically as tied to me as my name, so it's almost just as bad.

I always assumed that the different coins, chains and exchanges are in competition with each other. And with the community for Crypto being so... invested (both literally and emotionally) do they not get competitive and adversarial? Especially in a confined physical space like a con.

U guys mentioned Temasek? That's the Singapore state's wealth fund. Basically a shadowy organization that invests its' citizens' CPF savings into projects/startups, more akin to a venture capitalist. They are notorious for making wrong bets, as seen with their investments in FTX, Zilingo, Luckin Coffee etc; and becuz they are protected by the ruling party, it's nigh impossible to hold temasek accountable, for their mal-investments....
